| Apex Techie Wannabe | I need to cut a few 120mm fan holes and am wondering if anyone ever used this tool on their case before? It seems like a possible alternative for cutting various hole sizes than buying a bunch of hole saws in different sizes... | |

| I have used it before, but you have to be really steady. If your hands slip just a little, next thing you know you have an egg shape rather than a circle. Practice on some scrap pieces beforehand. ![]() | ||

| If you really want to hone your skillz use'n a roto tool, cutting a fan hole is great practice. Cut your hole slightly smaller so you can fine tune it with a drum sanding attachment or file. MNPCTech has a great tutorial on the process. My advice for smaller radius cuts, save the smaller cut off wheels for the future. Even with a large hole saw you run risks, make sure you reinforce your cutting area for proper support. | ||

LOL, yea its good practice, after my 10th blowhole, i got pretty steady with a dremel. My question is, is there a holesaw bit for a dremel? It seems like that is what he was asking...

| Even if they did make one, I really think it would be insane to try with those rpms. Just looked at that new circle cutter, sorry haven't seen that before, would have been nice to see a link posted. I can see it being used for wood or plastic on low speed setting. There is not a metal cutter for that position though. Would be nice to see it set at an angle like a reverse grout attachment for usen a cutoff wheel. Thats what i figured, the rpms, whew, you could loose a few sfingers tring that.... Thats an interesting tool, but the $2.50 nickel cutting discs cut anything in my mods apart just fine...... I'd like to get a punch out hole cutter though. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Yep I've used it, but I didn't really like it all that much for metal. For cutting fan holes in acrylic it was the best!!!Most of the time I just use a reinforced cutting disk (mnpctech-has the best) and take my time. If you want a clean look that doesn't take too much time a hole saw paired with a good drill will work wonders. | ||

Sorry I was talking about the product Lokie linked to.
I can't post any links until 7 or more posts.... So the "561 MultiPurpose Cutting Bit" won't work well with aluminum?
I guess I'm going to have to resort to using an actual hole saw.. This is going to be my first time to cutting out fan holes and I don't want to mess up on my case.. I wouldn't mind learning to use cutting disks but that will come later on...
