I can't believe wired was talking smack about my gold laptop (old article)...They could've at least used final pictures of it.

No worries though, there's more than just gold plating on the horizon......for now I'll keep doing it till the orders stop coming though.

No problem, but from what I can tell most if not all who replied to this thread found the link to be silly and author of it to be an ass. So basically it was just me who thought the gold plating to be done in bad taste

Nothin' wrong with the gold-plated mods. A paint job CAN be a mod, just as a couple of UV cold cathode lights can be a mod.

The anime girl is a bit...perverse, though. One step away from ordering a real doll.

Otherwise I find nothing wrong with those mods.

I dont think any of the mods are "BAD" or "Hack jobs" but I personally think the gold plated lappy is just gaudy and over the top. That doesnt mean its not a very well done mod and very detailed and well crafted, it just means its to "Vagas" for my taste.

The auther is a moron and has no clue about modding. All the mods show skill and imagination, and just because they dont fit "MY" particular style doesnt make them poorly done or in poor taste.

I give props to anyone who even attemps to mod a pc , at least they have the guts to TRY!! I'm bettin the Auther of the article has to take his PC to CompUSA for memory upgrades, and still calls Gateway support when his puter hicups.

Meh, I think the beaver was really the only mod "in poor taste" really. Just because you wouldn't want to own it doesn't mean it's tacky or in poor taste, isn't modding about altering something to make it your own, something that represents you? What trash, really.

As for the anime girl, it'd be perverse if the creator didn't seem to be a female who lives somewhere in the east (I'd say Japanese, but that'd be stereotyping as she could just as easily be from Thailand or China etc.) and that kind of thing is very popular over there. Definitely not in bad taste considering it's mainstream culture.
