| Apex Techie Wannabe | I searched through the forums for my answer prior to posting this so I apologize in advance if this has already been addressed and I missed it. One of the two case mods that I am working on is going to require some retro "dial of analog" temperature gauges, similar to the gauges used in the Wolfenstein Radio case mod. I would link it but I haven't posted enough yet. A Google search for 'Wolfenstein Case Mod' will find it several times over.I have searched high and low and although I can find gauges of various shapes and sizes most of what I could find was automotive grade gauges. I was also somewhat surprised at the cost of some of the gauges. My question is, will any electrical temperature gauge work for monitoring case and CPU temperatures or am I looking for one type in particular. If I am looking for one particular gauge then I am hoping that someone has a link or suggestion on where to go for this. I am self-taught electro-literate so I am comfortable with playing around to figure out how to wire it up. I just don't want to spend money one something that will not work for my particular application. These types of gauges have been used so many other times in case mods that I am certain someone has a simple answer for this one. I just hope that someone frequents this site. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ================================================== ======= After posting this I did stumble into a thread that explained how to use a automotive grade gauge to act as a voltmeter. This makes me hopeful that I can use an automotive temp gauge to monitor the CPU and Case temperature. It did not, unfortunately, explain much more about how to wire up a temperature gauge, or if they already make that style of temp gauge for PC's. ================================================== ======= Thanks in advance. cscheck Last edited by cscheck; 10-October-07 at 01:27 PM.. | |

| My understanding of it is you can either have the temp read from a probe you place on the cpu or whatever you want to monitor which means you need:
Myself, I'm an idea guy, and do have the will to learn the hows . . . but currently have neither the knowhow nor the time to devote. But I hope I can get you pointed in the right direction, at the very least. d

Thanks so much. This did inform me quite a bit about something I knew nothing about. Now I know what to start looking for.
