Default Tv/Linux Mod

Hi everyone, this is my first post and my first real mod so I am looking for a bit of advice before I start.

I'm looking to mod an old 13" TV into a Linux computer. But, I also want to keep it functional as a TV, mostly for DVDs (and ideally even VHS), as I don't have cable. My first thoughts were to replace the guts all together and put a flat screen inside the case, and run the video through some sort of TV Tuner card. However, I really don't know a lot about doing anything like this, so maybe someone knows a better way? The idea is to have everything self-contained inside the box.

Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

That would work, but you're gonna be stuck with a 12" LCD, probably work better if you use a laptop, as it should be relatively easy to find a 12" LCD and you could possibly get one with a DVDROM, but you'll be stuck with an USB tuner and I don't know how well they work with most modern linux distros.
You should look at Newegg or wherever you're gonna buy the tuner pick a tuner and look to see if it's compatible witht the distro you want to use. OR visa versa look for compatible USB tuners and see if the store you want to purchase from can get it in.
Sounds like a good project. Good Luck
