Default Model Car paint w/air brush?

It was recently suggested to me to use model car paint in conjunction with an air brush for that specific paint.

Has anyone used this before, and if so, is it cost effective and does it work as well as automotive paint?

Some of the model car paints you can use and some you cant. I am learning how to paint and bought 4 ounce bottles of House of Kolor paint pre reduced. It was ment for an airbrush and its fairly cheap as long as you arent buying the chameleon colors. If you have never heard of them they are used mostly in hot rod and custom car paint jobs.

check out hokpaints.com they have a ton of 2 and 4 ounce prereduced mixes ready for airbrushing.

hokpaints.com keeps redirecting me to some BS website "auutoparts.net" or some mess that basically amounts to a search engine.

The paint you used looks wicked though...will probably pick myself up a cheap air brush form wal*mart or something.

Your in luck then, Walmart carries House of Kolor paints in the model section. At least the super size one near me does.

All of the Wal-Marts I've been in carry both the cans and jars. The only problem is they are the small jars. If your going to paint anything with a little size, it'll take a half dozen to finish it.

Small useless cans, you'd be better off with Duplicolor if you go for cans.
They do stock a nice selection of decent sized bottles though.

You don't use an airbrush to paint large areas. That's what paint guns are for.

When painting a case, I usually lay down base coats and clear coats with Duplicolor cans. And use thinner based enamel model paints for airbrushing.
