Yup. The people at the chroming place will most likely put down a layer of conductive paint before they actually chrome it. Just make sure that they will do it before you just take the part up there.

Reflective Mylar on the back side of the plastic might do it.

I just got off the phone with a local plastic shop and they suggest just using plastic mirror. Cheap, easy to cut, glue and bend.

Yes they can chrome plate plastic...

I inquired and the prices are rediculous, 200+ to do an ANTEC - mid front bezzle.

Insom had a great idea, Mylar.

Try googling for "monokote" I've used it ,and it comes in chrome.
It is heat shrink sheeting for radio-contrtolled aircraft. I belive it is made by "Top-Flite" and it is Mylar...

good luck!!

That ORAC over at bit-tech was thorougly impressive. The time that boy spent on some of that stuff is incredible. I can't wait to see the finished project. I reccomend reading the article.

ahh... The almighty ORAC...

They also make an adhesive-backed chrome looking sheet for customizing model kits. Your local Hobby-Lobby or such store should carry it.

and ZENN, u gotta admit... there is a lot of plastic on the bezel, especially if it has a door on it. but 200+ is definitely a bit stiff.

I work at a Automotive company that specialized in chrome plating plastic parts (Grilles, Bumper Trim, Etc...)

Among others, we do the bigass grille you see in BA's sig, 99.9% of alll Volvo grilles, and the T-Bird Grille.

Actually, the parts are put into a etching solution prior to plating (assuming the resin is electro-conductive)

One of the main difficulties in what you are proposing is that you are using already molded parts, which won't have any rack tabs which we use to dip the parts into the solution and carry the curent. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it is not an easy process, and that is why it will cost so much. (I looked into it for my box, but they wouldn't even do it for someone who works here, much less an outsider. )
