| Ah yes, the good old suck or blow question. Not to revive a looooooong dead debate about positive vs. negative pressure in the case, that hole is for fresh air to blow directly into the CPU cooler (sometimes via a duct, not a fan) with the premise being the fresh air will be a couple of degrees cooler than the air inside the case as it hasn't blown over any hot HD or other component. Set it to suck. | ||

But Negative pressure configuration (suck) causes dust to collect in a lot more places that are hard to clean, and also negates the use of fan filters. So you get increased maintance, and the tempature arguement... I've never gained anything from negative other than a lot dirtier case.

I TOLD you not to revive that debate. Actually, having that fan should even out the pressure (assuming all fans are equal size). 2 front + 1 side = 1 top + 1 rear + fan in PSU. EDIT: HOLY CARP!! Thanks for the pic there Thrasher. Dude, you don't need another fan in that wind tunnel... that monster on the top of the case will draw more than sufficient air through the side window to get that "fresh air" effect. PSU at the bottom of the case? Wonder if that helps or hurts the cooling of the PSU?

e6600 + 650i + 8800gtx + 2gb (2x1024mb) crucial ballistix pc8000, about 30% oc on the chip, and the ram running at rated speeds, hdd nothin special, and FX700-gln psu. about the psu.. it has no fan in teh back, which i'm sure isn't an issue, and i can zip-tie a 80mm on to the back if need be. but in that case, should the fan be pointing up, or down? (yes, common sense says down would inhibit air-flow, but do i really want the heat to rise to the 8800gtx?)

| shameless self-bump for a question unanswered- Which direction should i orient it? Fan up or down? it'll probably have a centimeter or so of clearance to the floor, was thinking of maybe putting filter material and cutting a 120 hole, seeing as my computer often sits on a desk, floor-borne crap won't be much of an issue. | ||

| PSU in the bottom is no biggie, people always complain about the Antec P180's PSU in tbe bottom and how it reduces cord length. Not for me. I like it better on the bottom, the power cord goes easier to the Socket. ![]() And Dreyco, if its any consolation, I didn't copy your rig. ![]() | ||
