Default Install Temp Probe?

Where is the best place to stick a thermal probe to the CPu. I have a P4 2.53b. The CPU has a heats spreader so i cant stick it next to the core. Help?

I put mine to the back side with a piece of foam sticky tape. It insulates it from the board temp and is about 1-2C difference from the top of the CPU cooler...You might have to replace the wiring with a piece of wire from an old EIDE ribbon wire if yours is too thick...

Under the core would probably be best depending on what kind of chip you have. Here is a guide, but be warned it isn't for the faint of heart:

Ouch I remember that guide. Hurts just to look at it. Better to use Zennzzo's suggestion of small wire. I use a probe from a Hardcano. It has very thin wires on the probe. I just cut a couple of very shallow valleys on the zip socket and widened them a bit with a triangular jewellers file.

No worries about ripping up a pin socket that way.
