Default OK, I'm an idiot

I just got done putting on my 2 80-120 adapaters and mounting the fans on them.

Now for the idiot part. The top fan went on fine. It has a pretty blue LED and sitting on teh adpater it looks cool. I bought the same fan for teh back of the case. I say to myself "hey, I don't need the LEDs on this fan so let me CUT the wires for the LEDs. All I need is this little plug on to the motherboard.

Well guess what. I just found out what you knew already. The molex connector I cut off was for the LED AND fan. Now I know it too. I could call newegg and order a new fan for $15 plus shipping or I can try to splice the wires. Guess which one I did. Hey, it's the back of the case. No one will see it. What's a little electrical tape between friends.

Please don't point and make fun of me.

Both fans are working nicely and the temp of the case is down about ~10C with no apps (45C) and the fans are pretty quiet.

Hope you enjoyed your laugh for the night.

You could solder them and then use heatshrink to make it not look so ghetto. A nice sleeve job never hurt anyone...

pfff..... back in my first modding days, i had just gotten one of those temperature meassuring/fan controlling drives (5 1/2) and since i didnt know any better i thought the temp sensor would perform better if i were to place it in between the cpu heatsink and the cpu itself .... i didnt use any glue since i imagined the thermal compound would hold it in place ....
