Default High speed/Quiet fan?

Currently I have a 2500rpm fan ontop of my machine. It's fine for what it does. I want to put a ~5000rpm fan up there, but >50dbs is crazy. Does anyone know of a fan with that speed that is quieter?

If not, can you just reccomend a good fast 80mm fan.

How's the Vantec Tornado?

yea, if you want quiet fan, the vantec tornado, is not a good choice, if you don't mind your computer sounding like a jet taking off, then go for it, i have the 90mm tornado on my cpu cooler, it moves tons of air, a fan controller is a must have.

i have some logisys fans, they moved some air and they where pretty quiet. i would say their is alot of chocies on fans out their i would just search newegg, or any other online computer parts store, and read the reviews, etc.

I suggest a new cooler with a 92-120MM fan, like a big Typhoon, Zally 9500, or something on the high end from Scythe or Noctua.

I have the Big Typhoon, and use a higher than stock CFM fan (Around 100CFM) and it's da' BOMB

Barring that, an adapter to a 92-120MM fan would give you the flow you want with the quietness you seek...800MM and high flow is going to be a bit noisy!

Necro, you have any links to that. I have the fan on this inside of my clear case and nothing but an 80mm would fit in there. BUT, I can mount the fan on the outside of the case.

I found this

80-120mm Fan Adapter Translucent Plastic UV Sensitive

I asssume you are talking about a link to an adapter, not the coolers...correct?

I bought 2 of them at coolerguys for 3.95. I'm putting one on top and one on the back and getting rid of that 4500rpm noise maker.

This is the fan I bought

Thermaltake Thunderblade A1926 120mm Sleeve Blue LED Light Cooling Fan - Retail at Newegg.com

That one from FrozenCPU is real Purty

Too late now, but I would have gone with one of the 100+ CFM variable speed fans from this list

Newegg.com - Once You Know, You Newegg

Maybe this Silverstone

Nice fan Necro, but a little to loud. The one I bought is about 80cfm at 21db.

Completely unreaslistic dB on rating on that fan:

Edit:
silentpcreview.com | View topic - thermaltake thunderblade

If it seems too good to be true it probably is.
When selecting a quiet fan I tend to trust people's experience more than dB ratings because there are no real guidelines to which unscrupulous companies must adhere to.

I haven't gotten my adapters yet, but I hooked one fan up just to see how it was. Considering I'm comparing it to my 80mm 4500rpm monster, the new fan is very quiet. It will be a pleasure to replace the top and back fans.

I think the 21db is about right.
