| My new case got here about a week ago. Its one of the Pre-Mod ones with a window already in it. But while setting it up i noticed that has the standard 80mm fan exaust spot on the back. But right below that is has a spot for another fan but its only like half as big? is this for another exaust fan or what? and is it for a 40mm fan? Also should i put a fan there or would it not really make any difference? Here is a pic of the case with out the win pane on. Its hard to see but its spot is there. | ||

| This is pimprig dude. If its 40mm then obviously you can put a 40MM fan there. Just check if it has the 4 screw holes at the corners. If not, drill them yourself, but 40mm fans dont really do crap: like 10cfm at most for one with relatively little noise. Instead, think about taking your dremel to it and cutting a bigger hole for a 80mm, 92mm, or 120mm fan. Just depends on where it fits. | ||

| Just a wasted investment if you ask me. For the amount of air they push through compared to their price, they have a horrible value. Anything over 4 bucks after S&H is a waste of time and money. Try this guy: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=3673 I've already bought from him and the fans work great. Don't know where this guy gets them all from, but last week he had like a total of 20 auctions going for these suckers, ,some in package deals of up to 24 fans. Only problem with them is that they have a 2 pin connector that i couldn't fit anywhere....so I soldered. ![]() Last edited by lAnonymousl; 08-August-03 at 09:58 PM.. | ||

| I was actually looking at the exact same auction lol. as for cooling i do doubt it would help much i already have 2 front intake and one side intake. I just though it might be something special or something lol but then again that 40mm fan is so cheap i might get it. | ||

| "A 40mm fan really won't help you much cooling your case" A 40mm fan can easily cool down a 7200RPM hard drive. Well, cooling a case and cooling a hard drive are entirely different propositions. Actually, if you have a good case design with logical airflow, you won't really need hard drive coolers. I've mounted the hard drive in my gargoyle case near the top of the case, above the DVD drive, using 5.25" brackets. Remember, hot air rises. So, that warm air on top only needs a blowhole and you certainly won't need a specific hard drive cooler. This illustrates a major point: many people get gung-ho crazy about installing fans, with little thought to actual airflow. It's not the number of fans, but the placement and direction of flow that makes the biggest difference. | ||
