| Apex Techie Wannabe | I planned on getting a new case soon, and today I stumbled upon an awesome fan, the Vantec Stealth 120mm. 53 CFMs at 28 dBA? Yeah, I want that. The problem is that I can't find a case that has intake and exhaust spots that are 120mm. Are there any sites that show cases that can take the fans I want? Preferably aluminum, but I'll take what I can get. Thanks. ![]() Edit: The Evercool aluminum fans look even better. 84.5 CFM at 31 dBA. I didn't want to go above 30 dBA, but that's a small price to pay for an extra 30 CFMs on each fan. Last edited by EdG; 22-July-03 at 07:52 PM.. | |

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Thanks, Salex! It looks like I'll be getting the Compucase CI-6920. I didn't particularly like the looks of any of the cases, but this one is alright. It's a bit confusing since Compucase's site says it has a 120mm intake and Xoxide says it has two 80mm intakes. I trust Compucase more than Xoxide when it comes to a Compucase case. And Slug, I know practice makes perfect, but I don't have the proper tools for the job. Besides, a manufacturer can always do better than me as far as cutting holes is concerned. | |

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Thanks for the advice, Rokk. I'm going to buy the case at the same time I get my new mobo and CPU, which is going to be about a month from now anyway. That way I don't have to switch out motherboards twice by just putting the new one right into the new case at the same time I switch my other parts. | |

| Apex Techie Wannabe | It turns out that the site is wrong about that case having a 120mm intake. It has two 80mm's. All the cases that hold 120mm fans for both intake and exhaust which I've found are covered in plastic crap. I found what appeared to be exactly what I want: http://www.kingwin.com/pdut_detail.a...ateID=1&ID=151 But it uses 80mm fans, and there's not enough room for 120's. I still haven't found a case that looks exactly like that but uses 120mm fans.http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...-424-B5-WM.jpg Excellent mesh. http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...-424-B6-WM.jpg No room to mod the back. http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...-424-B3-WM.jpg The mesh is the width of the 3 1/2 bays... http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...-424-B7-WM.jpg ...and the hard drive holder goes all the way to the front and bottom. They're made specifically for 80mm fans. It looks like there's no way to put a 120mm in it. And even then, I don't have the tools to install a blowhole, and since the back isn't large enough, even if the front did have room for a 120 I still couldn't put in any others. Do any of you know where to get a case that looks similar but uses 120's? I'm in desperate need of better cooling as it is, and I'm soon to get a CPU that's going to run even hotter than this one. 120mm fans seem to be the most effective air-pushers with the least noise. | |

| Here's one that takes 2x 120mm Fans, one intake, one output, and it's from Antec http://www.antec-inc.com/pro_details...p?ProdID=15138 | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | The one that you posted looks alright, Putwig. It's not exactly what I was going for in looks...but looks can be changed. ![]() I'm going to look around for reviews to see if that grey squre can be removed. That severly inhibits airflow. BA, that's a behemoth of a case. I think I could fit my sister in that. ![]() Edit: I'd like to thank you all for your help once again. I've been reading these forums for several months now, and just felt compelled enough to sign up. This is the first time I've needed help here and it's gone great. I'll be staying a long time. ![]() Last edited by EdG; 22-July-03 at 08:02 PM.. | |

| Actually, if I remember correctly, the grey square is elevated and open on all four sides. This coupled with the fact that the fan would be mounted inside the steal chassis 3/4" back from the plastic of the front bezel, means there would be more than ample air flow. It is quite a brilliant bezel design actually. Edit: Yep, it can be removed. Those pics are from the review I linked above. | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | I.E. crashed every time I tried to go to that review. In fact, I can't even get to their site. Interesting...when I get it, I'll try it with and without the square to see which gives better temperatures. That bar going through the middle of the intake looks like it's going to be bad for airflow though. That said, I still think my ambient temperature is going to drop substantially with the new case. Right now I have this case with one 120mm case fan. I don't even know what kind of fan it is, but it appears to be the loud kind that can't push air. There's still a stock 80mm grill over it. I've got high ambient temperatures right now, needless to say.Edit: Whoa. I just saw the case that PimpRig reviewed. I don't care for the mods (other than the sweet handle), so I checked out the stock version. It's smaller, lighter, and cheaper than the FS020. Now I think I've finally chosen the case I'm getting. ![]() Last edited by EdG; 23-July-03 at 01:43 AM.. | |
