Exclamation is this normal

hey everyone i have a pentium 4, 2.4 ghz overclocked to 2.72 ghz. At idle the cpu runs at 39 degrees celcius. once i start running counter striek source or any other high graphical game the temperature jumps to 70 degrees celcius. it does the same thing without the overclock. here is a link of my cooling and motherbaord.

that big fan in the front is from a bank machine and uses 120 volts. it helps alot and can blow a hat right off your head. it dropped cpu temp down by 10 degrees and case by 20 degrees ceclius. is ther any other reason that my cpu could be jumping so high in temperature.

Reseat the heatsink and reapply TIM. Make sure there's good contact. The additional weight from 2 fans may cause a torgue large enough to cause uneven seating between the HSF base and die.

Damn! 70 degrees is ROASTING!

Maybe look into getting yourself a better cooler if reseating your CPU cooler doesn't work

70's way too hot dude!

Are you using 2 fans on your CPU heatsink or is the black fan just a tunnel? I thought using 2 fans doesn't improve performance and it just makes more noise.

no both are fans and yes it does help becuase its pulling air out alot faster just by putting ur hand ther u can feel the differnce. and im not to concerned about sound i got a bank machine fan in the front and that is louder then most planes lol.

Check for dust. Cleaning fans, grills, cables and heatsinks can do quite a bit. But only if they were dirty in the first place and from your pictures, everything looks clean.

Are the fans blowing down on the heatsink or sucking air through the heatsink and blowing out of the case?

ive got a 2.4C running under an AMD heatpipe cooler atm
it was running the stock cooler and it was loading at 79C @ 2.9ghz
fliped it for the stock amd dual core cooler and powered up to 189x18 or 3.4ghz

Heh, my bros 2.4 runs cooler than that on STOCK solutions... are you using High qualtiy TIM in a very thin layer?

Proper mounting with TIM when you pull the Heatsink up, you should see no barespots on the heatsink but there should be a slight film of the TIM on it. Make sure its got good contact

i mean damn thats smokin hot you could fry an egg on that thing.

Maybe you should look into buying one of those new Noctua Coolers either the -12 or the -9 the -12 if you have clearance here is a link to Akita's review.

these things are incredible...
