| Ok, so we got our first shot of winter weather in a while here. It's about 12*F here and I got an idea to bring my comp just outside the door and see if the weather will help cool down some things and maybe I can get some OCing in. I'm a bit of a newb at this so I was wondering if there was anything I should be careful with the extreme cold. Will it affect the components in any way? will there be a risk for condensation? anything else i should look out for while outside? also should note it's kinda windy but if I do this I will most likely be right next to the house and not in the middle of the yard Thanks in advance -RRW | ||

| I'm too lazy to do the math, but I don't think the humidity outside will be enough to warrant condensation.
Remember you're only going to benefit from moving your rig outside if heat is the limiting factor in your oc.

| A friend of mine keeps a server in a shed in his back yard. Trees keep the shed relatively cool in the Summer, but there's no heat in the shed and it's insanely cold in the Winter. The shed is good and dry though, as a result it's been humming away out there for about three years without any problems. 7 degrees F today, but it's been colder out there than that plenty of times. | ||

| Yes, it is cold as hell here today on LI and the humidity is very low. Assuming that heat is the limiting factor you could put your PC outside and OC it. However, once you bring it back inside it will have to be cranked back down. Another option is to get one of those ducts that are used for a dryer vent and run it from the window to the side of your case with some fans in it. However, you may have issues with condensation depending upon the relative humidity in your house. | ||

| the weather should be like this all week so i decided to wait until I get the ram I won from the contest(estimated arrival is tomorrow but fedex hasn't updated the tracking for 5 days) and then give a shot at the OC, and yes, heat is a bit of a limiting factor, I'm running a prescott on stock cooling 56C on load..gaah, a new cooler is on my list of things to get(either the zalman 7700alcu(might be a tight fit) or the ac freezer 7 pro) thanks for the input | ||

| You might wanna check this out. http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread.php?t=62324 I know that $SOLID$Necro uses the cold air as well when going for insane overclocks. OCing also depends on your hardware such as PSU, Mobo, CPU | ||
