Wow you use a floppy still?

Do you have a front fan? What CFM is that backfan?

Does it feel warm inside your case? Clean up that tower of wires a bit more. Your mobo temp doesnt sound right, 50c? That has to be an error.

That 1 fan isnt going to do his case any justice then, he atleast needs 1 Front fan, and a top one.

Airflow looks like it would be hideous in that config. Stuff those wires behind your opticals and put a fan in your door if you don't already have one. That's of course if your HSF is seated correctly...

The floopy came free i still have to paint it black

Yes, i have a front fan and it is a intake fan. I have no idea what the CFM is on the front fan but i know its a 120mm.

It feels moderate inside my case. Yeah, i got some round ide wires on order to help me clean the mess of wires. The heatsink for the motherboard is quite hot but it doesnt like burn my finger or its not hot enough to make me remove my finger.

Ok i see that many of you mention that the HSF could not be seated properly. I used artic silver and i tried to make sure the HSF fit ontop of the Processor perfectly. I first added Artic silver ontop of the Processor and rubbed all over the top in a thin layer and then i applied the HSF ontop of the cpu.

Hmm, if your mobo says the chipset's at 50C, but you can keep your finger on it without burning you, then there's an error in the thermistor or something. 50C is 122F, and that's like scalding water! If you checked you HSF and it is indeed seated properly, then it is either airflow restrictions, or your have sensor problems.

Note that the more artic silver you put on the worse you will be. The less that is out on, the better off you will be.

Alright i will attempt to remove the artic silver. Should i just wipe it off with a napkin or what?

And are we talking about the same Heatsink?

I am talking about the one on the CPU

Yes, clean it with a rag or something, then use a Q-tip and wipe it with alcohol. Then apply the AS5 in a drop about the size of a piece of rice and spread that out using a razor blade. It may be hard to do, but keep spreading until the CPU is completely covered. Then mount the heatsink and when you set it on the CPU, try not to move it around too much. Screw in one side a bit, then the other until it is tight against the CPU and it doesn't move when you give the heatsink a gentle twist. Report the temps back to us after you are done.

One: Take the heatsink off and install it correctly, as per the Zalman website. It should be blowing towards the back of the case.

Two: If you think I've lost my mind, watch the video on the Zalman website. It shows how to mount the 9500, regardless of which way the screws that hold the stock mounting bracket to the motherboard are turned.

Three: To remove the AS3/5 that you've already applied, you can use: ArticClean or 90% / higher purity isopropyl alcohol with a cotton swab (Q-Tip). Make sure to remove all of it, and perhaps use some compressed air to make sure there is no cotton lint left behind.

Four: Go ahead and look over the AS3/5 application instructions on the Arctic Silver website.

Once you got all that done, you should see temps drop nicely.

Dont wipe it off with a napkin. The napkin will get stuck. Got an Old credit card? or a old gift card you dont use anymore? Cut off a strip and use that to spread it around more.

Take off any artic silver off the heatsink first. Then spread what ever is left on the cpu around a bit. or use the card2 to scrap some off and keep it some where if you need more.

If you want to remove it all and start over, USE Caution on this part. Dont kill your CPU. Make sure you are grounded, (touch a metal object, or if you have any, use alligator clips attached to some where on your body) Get either rubbing alcohol, or acetone. Make sure you have proper ventelation. use either a paper towel or cutip dipped in the soultion. Wipe off as much as you can. Repeat until clean. Becareful too.

Im assuming you still have the heatspreader on still, which means you dont overclock.

EDIT: 2 people beat me to it. Oh well.

Just one question before i get going!

Is this why my temps are so high?

It affects my motherboard temp?

There could be something wrong with the temp monitor for the mobo. But before we assume so, you may just need more airflow. It looks like those hardrives kill some of the airflow. As I said, get a top fan, and a side fan if you dont have one.

Other than this overheating problem i am having its my best mobo i have had. They could have thoughtout the layout for the SLI better though. But otherwise its a beast and nothing can slow it down.
