Default Help with fan

I posted about this a while ago, and did get an answer. But now I have a "new" problem.

I bought 5 of these fans several months ago:
http://directron.com/3110kl.html

Well, 2 of them had a built in "temperature" sensor(blue little thing on the fan)
The problem I had was that a few of them spun at different speeds than the others.
The answer you guys gave me was that if I weld the metal parts of the sensor together i'd get faster speeds because the temperature sensor was taking voltage/power from the fan making it spin slower.

Well I welded the 2 that had the sensor... and now they are A LOT FASTER. Just by putting my hand to them, I would say the 2 that had them(and now are welded) are at least three times stronger. Amazing.

But why are the other 3(that never even had a sensor) slower? Shouldnt they also get the "full power" since there never was a sensor to take power away?

Thanks for your time,

Ben.

I just checked my digidoc5, and it is saying that the fan(where i welded the sensor together) is going at approx. 5000rpm.
It used to go only at 2500

The 2nd one that i welded is going at 4000 instead of the old 1500. Pretty good too

The other ones without sensor are still going around 2000-3000 though.
Shoudlnt have anything to do with the location of them, since one welded and unwelded are right next to eachother. The "blow hole" is the same size, so it's not like one is getting more air than the other or something like that.

Just thought this info might help!

And while I'm at it.... when I moved from US to austria, I lost my CD for the digidoc5. Anybody know if it's possible to change fan speed with it? Maybe the default of digidoc5 was to give different fans different voltage resulting in different speeds? (even though that wouldnt make any sense to why they would do that)

different brands/models of fans have different rpm. Maybe the fans you got are different models?

Nope They are all the same. I bought a 5 pack of that link i gave in the first post. They have same stickers, brand name, etc. Only difference was(and i mean ONLY) that 2 of them had temp sensors and 3 didnt.

Edit: Hrm I have an idea. The fan has 3 wires going from it. One for ground, one for 12V, and one for temp sens. Even the fans without the blue temp sens still have that 3rd wire. Maybe there's a hidden sense. Or it just takes power anyways?
Would it work if I cut that 3rd wire(well first i'd have to find out which the wire for temp sens is), giving it no power?

I would think think the nonsensor fans have different circutry
on the motor, It's not like the other ones with that sensor circut closed. The difference in speed might not be as much as you think. I have found fans are funny like that ,sometimes they sound a whole lot faster when in fact a readout of RPM's tells you different. The fans I worry about are the ones that don't spin at all!

lol "the ones that dont spin at all"

Well, I really dont notice a difference in sound. I'm not a audiophile or anything like that, hehe ;P

But when i put my hand against the ones that are mounted next to eachother... there's a BIG difference(From the ones without sens to the ones that had them but have been welded together)

i think you got ripped....sounds like a big mess to me
i'd see what you can do. How loud are the one's that you modded now? unless noise isnt an issue, thats something you gotta keep in mind

dude, if you have an 80mm fan doing 7000 rpm, then i have a car that will do 700 miles per hour...

and if the fan really is going that fast, i imagine the noise is something equivelant to a cheering crowd in a room full of helium...

ERRR, sorry, that was a typo with 7000. I meant 5000.
Still a big improvement from 2500. And as I said, it also feels A LOT stronger

Oh, and noise isnt an issue for me

Time to go edit the other post where i made the typo!

oh and just for a little side story.... yesterday while i was sitting at my computer at night, there was this moth that flew into my side panel LED fan. LOL I was laughing pretty hard when it happened. Afterwards i saw all this crap fly around in my case though, was a pain to clean it out :/

Ok my fan just hit 7300 on digidog5. It's jumping all over from 4500 to 7300.

Wow that temperature sensor remove thing was the best idea No wonder it blows so fkn hard lol.

That strong one is in the back(Exhaust). Should I change it to intake because it's so strong? Cuz the other ones in the front(the ones that stayed slow) arent that strong and dont put much air into the case ;x
Is it "bad" to have a intake in the back amongst exhaust, or does it really not matter?
