Get it, and as soon as you can. ![]() Basicly that's all I have to say on the matter.. ADD - don't know where you'll find one for less than that - cheapest til that site that I've seen them way 42 bucks. The copper/aluminum version costs normally 4-5 bucks less though and are on par with the solid copper units. Last edited by Iateronmly; 30-December-03 at 11:57 PM..

Yes, there is only one version. It comes with the hardware for all of them.... the first couple batches didn't have the mounting hardware for AMD64s though.

No, theres 3. Intel, AMD, and universal. Intel has 478 and A-FX HW (dont know why that is), AMD has socketA HW, and universal obviously has all.

| Thermaltake Volcano's aren't exactly the hottest thing out there. You don't need that particular fan, but it would be an excellent improvement over what you have now. The hybrid copper/aluminum version would work as well and not bite as much off your wallet, I think BA or someone on this site did a review on the full copper version. Another side note, that particular HSF, the Zalman, may not fit on your mobo, capacitors may get in the way of the HSF and you would have wasted 50 bones or 36 if you get the aluminum/copper hybrid. I have a generic copper HSF in my server from CompUSA, but I used one of those 60MM Delta 38CFM screamers that turns 7100 rpm. Not as loud as the 80MM Tornado in my 'Short Circuit' mod but an improvement over the CompUSA fan. | ||

Umm.. actually both the 36 and 42 dollar units are the universal offerings. 36 = copper/aluminum 42 = pure heapin' hunk of copper goodness. I ordered the copper/aluminum because I'm gonna probably pop the IHS off and feared the thought of a 750 or so gram cooler on it. ![]()

Ok, I looked at Zalman's site, we're both off. There's two, the CNPS7000 and the CNPS7000a which I mistook to be a newer version of the CNPS7000. The CNPS7000 supports socket 478 (Pentium 4), socket 754(Athalon 64) and socket 940(Athalon 64 FX and Opteron). The CNPS7000A supports 478, 754 (with an improved mounting plate) and 462 (non-64 AMDs) but not the 940. Anyway, those are the two for anyone else who needs to know.
