Default Air intake thru 3 1/2 inch bay

I have a Antec Easy USB that take a 5 1/4 bay and gives me 2 usb ports and a 3 1/2 bay. I have been looking for a hard drive cooler or something that will fit in that 3 1/2 bay that I can use for air intake. Anybody seen anything??

No, but the 3 1/2 in bays are roughly the size of an 80mm... if you wanted to go cheap-ish, buy/grab an 80mm and tape it in there so it fits (provided you have a free 5 1/4 bay above or below this thing) and... make sure there's a lil spacin so the one "cut off" half gets a little air to shove through it as well...

Otherwise, no I haven't seen a 3 1/2 bay cooler.... probably because the hard drives themselves fit in a 3 1/2 bay, and have no space for airflow around them in a "confined" space like that...

This says it fits in a 3.5 bay.

EDIT - That isn't a slot cooler. My bad.

you can probabally mod a pci blower to fit the hole, but that would be exhaust

I am just adding something on to TheOutcasts idea. You could buy/find some small elbo mounts (the things that keep some shelves up) and use those to mount the fan in a neater fashion than using tape. You probably could have thought of that on your own, but most of the time, I miss stuff like that so I thought I'd post it.

Ok, start with an old Floppy drive, maybe one that's worthless like one of the old 640K models. Pull the cover and that's three sides of a duct.

Now it's time to mod, you cut a fan hole in the top of that plate and mount your 80mm. The hole size is pretty close to 3 1/2" and a drill hole saw blade works real good.

Mark the center, use a fan grill or a fan to mark your screw holes for the fan, then drill the screw holes and drill the fan hole.

Then just finish sealing up the loos ends, and make yourself a front grill.

Comon bucko, it's moding time

i took the face plates off of 2 3 1/2 bays and wedged i believe its a 60 in there with a tad of cutting. Works

For space saving you could try a thin profile fan, or one of these, usually meant for 1U cooling:

Im guessing that the bottom corner has an intake as does the top corner (to the picture) These dount shift musch but they will certainly cool something. I guess you could include the copper fins for increased cooling. To duct air in, Agin I would use the ol' floppy drive trick.
