| Either the Microcool North Pole, or the new Swiftech set. The Microcool is nice as it comes with 6 mosfet heatsinks, and 2 PLL heatsinks. North Pole Review Swiftech MCX159-R Review | ||

| I've heard really good things about the Zalman heatsinks for the northy. Also in a few head to head comparisons that I've read the active cooled ones perform no better Bit-Tech http://www.bit-tech.net/review/279/ | ||

| You've got a few options: 1.) Microcool North Pole 2.) Swiftech NB Cooler 3.) Zalman and tape a 40mm fan to the top (works like a charm ). The fan can be had off ebay for about $3.4.) Have an old CPU heatsink that you (hopefully) aren't using? Have a dremel and a drill? See where this is going? Also works like a charm. ![]() Personally I just taped a fan to the top of my 865PE stock heatsink (which was already pretty good quality) and haven't had any problems. Going by sheer increased MHz, I will venture to say that you won't see much additional benefit between any of the options I listed above....I didn't. | ||

That is exactly what I have done. It works well. I agree there are many ways to skin a cat, and I certainly wouldn't spent $30+ on northbridge cooling. But, he didn't ask for cheap DIY ways to keep a northbridge cool. He said:
Which is why I suggested the two I did. ![]()

| Direct Cool Hoe | I guess this would be "overkill" then ... a 9.00 tall Zalman w/coolermaster led fan, then I moved the stock N/B HSF to the southside of town... I'm using "ceramique" in there, It's a thinner TIM, and you can't get as much down pressure as the Block on the CPU. ...Hey what's a to do when he's bored?.... ![]() Last edited by ZENNZZO; 23-November-03 at 11:42 AM.. | |

Deja Vu. That's the exact same setup I had on my old Soyo (minus the LED's), but now that I got this Abit I've had to put the Zalman on the SB instead and tape the fan to the stock heatsink (which is actually still pretty damn good). Abit and their dumbass hook mounting clips...I'd go with the Ceramique too. I've had nothing but good results with it. Good luck, Red.

Bummer dude. I guess that's one reason I decided to go with water on my vid card. 40mm fans have such a large failure rate. Only 3 weeks and taking your card with it is harsh though. My Abit board actually came with a clone of the aluminum vantec Iceberg. Exactly the same except for the label. Haven't had a problem with it and I run 433 fsb.
