Default New Chassis Fan Problems

I just upgraded from a 80mm case fan to a 120mm, but asus probe is telling me that the rpms of the new fan are all over the place. It'll ride at 1500 then drop to 750, then jump off the charts. Any Ideas?

What are you using to monitor the fan speeds? or does it just go mental sometimes?

If its plugged into the motherboard using a 3 pin header, its probably responding to dynamic fan control from the BIOS. Have a snoop round and see if you can see anything.

You may be able to just turn it off, or adjust temperature settings to keep it at a steady rpm.

Or whatever your using to monitor it may just be b0rked. Ive never had much luck with SpeedFan.
