| Hi all I just got a bit bored and so did a quick little mod and placed a spare old tsunami dream case fan over my 8800GTS with a view to cool it and the HR-05 NB cooler behind it. It does both well, the GTS no longer almost burns to the touch nor indeed does the northbridge cooler. The fan isn't the quietest but was all I had. The GTS used to idle at 60-62 degrees, now appears to have lowered that to 50-52. Used to peak @ load to 72-76 degrees, early testing shows it would be hard to push it over 60 degrees. Haven't tidied wires up yet or tried overclocking potential but tbh I would only max it at 620 core anyway. Cheers | ||

| I'm gonna replace this thermaltake fan with a 12cm vantec stealth I just realised I had, no lights but tbh my case is looking saturated with blue light as it is! On full the stealth is nicely quiet too...Any ideas how to mount the fan cos I can't think of any. I may just have to reposition this additional fan after moving my case cos gravity otherwise keeps it nicely in place on the GPU. The fan is raised up on toy air-bullets made from rubber and super-glued to the fan chassis ![]() | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | You could place the Vantec fan on the card with the rubber air-bullets, just like the Thermaltake fan, and then hold it in place with zip ties or some type of string. Have the zip ties or string go around the card and through the fan's screw holes, or just around the fan. Of course if you use zip ties you'll probably have to join a few of them so they can make it all the way around. | |

I've used 4 zip-ties, twice, to secure the fan to the card now completely solid in transportation now maintaining nice temps still even in this summer state ![]() | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
