| Apex Techie Wannabe | My 6070 Plus Lian Li case hase a rear fan that provides air [with ajustible duct] to my cpu. Correct me if Im crazy but the Intel Cpu fan is blowing diectly into a duct thats bringing air in? I need to cool off the case/CPU and was wondering if I should change out this 80mm fan to exaust and could you recommend a really powerful fan to replace it? | |

| Yes, use the 80mm fan as an exaust. And as thrillkill said the cpu cooling fan MUST blow onto/ towards the cpu . Thermaltake makes some really powerfull 80mm fans. Newegg.com - Thermaltake A1357 80mm Case Fan - Retail This one comes with a speed controller and is only $8 ,what a deal. And of course theres allways the venerable 80mm tornado for some screaming airflow. Newegg.com - VANTEC TD8038H 80mm Case Fan - Retail id advise using a speed controller with the tornado, make sure it can handle the fans power rating. it truly is a simple concept. you have a fan on the cpu, blowing on the cpu. Then you have a fan on the back of the computer intaking fresh air, and pushing it down the tubing to the cpu. you can see this from the pic on the lianli website Lian Li Industrial Co., Ltd. or look at the instructions that came with the case PCApex.com // Full-Size Image Edit. i just took a nap, i need to fully wake up before replying. Rbieze.. hate to say it but you want the 80mm as an intake not an exhast fan.... Last edited by THRiLL KiLL; 24-March-07 at 10:31 PM.. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Yup ,after looking at your link ,I agree your 100% correct. I thought his case was similar to the thumnail below ,my bad. The thermaltake fan I linked would still be a good addition for some increased airflow... But all things aside ,I would personally remove the shroud, flip the fan to exaust and add a blowhole in the side panal over the cpu .I just dont think the powersupply is a good way of removing alot of case heat, and the blower is kinda low in the case. | ||

The first thing that stands out here is you said the Intel CPU fan was not blowing down on the CPU. If this is a stock cooler it is blowing down, unless you turned it over. Which I find is very hard and close to imposable.
TK is correct...
Good advice as well, but I would add a blowhole on top with a quieter 120 fan. and not deal with the added acoustics.
The statement does jive when you said your CPU fan was blowing up into the duct but he was thinking the traditional case set up. So now that this is all sorted out, what was the question again? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
