| On a few other forums, SilenX fans and power supplies enjoy great popularity, especially those focused on SFF and silent computing. The only thing I don't care for about SilenX's designs and claims is that they use sleeve bearings, so if they are as silent as claimed, one wonders, "For how long?" Although the range of sizes is fewer, the quietest fans I have personally experienced are made by Noctua. Check out the chart I created based just on manufacturer's claimed specs, especially the type of bearings and the MTBF. Scythe S-Flex fans also appear to be a very good choice. | ||

| Man, what the heck. Why didn't I read Iate's post last week. Well, long story short, my silenx fans showed up yesterday, I got the 80mm 32cfm 14db model. They are certainly low noise with the little rubber isolator posts and move lots of air compaired to the coolermaster fans I replaced. If I had known I could get them without the rebrand at a cheaper price I would have been all over it. I would have never said anything bad about them before reading this thread and Iate's. I'll let everyone know if I have trouble with them. I'm certainly hoping not though. | ||

Try just to buy Adda and save yourself a few dollars. Honestly your paying twice if not three times the price. Should add - there is an ISO specified test for DC axial fan testing guess how many people use it? ![]() Last edited by Iateronmly; 22-March-07 at 06:44 PM..

| i just found the adda website and such but their numbers are no where near the numbers of silenx. I think i might just avoid it all together and go with a different brand. besides the fact all the places that sell them are uk sites so shipping to the states will be expensive | ||

That's exactly what's wrong with Silenx, bogus figures and bloated price. The Adda are the same fans.

Those way different numbers are closer to real. Don't get me wrong. Silenx are quiet fans, but no where near as quiet as they try to claim to be. But for example you've probably "heard" how quiet Corsair PSUs are right? They use Adda fans, the same fans Silenx rebadges. Yate Loon 120mm <--- 28dBA 1350rpm Nexus 120mm <----22.8dBA @ 1000. Seem rather different eh? They're actually the same fan with different IC that dictates the rpm at 12vs. Well also they're cast with different colors. But you can get the Yate Loon for half the price and just turn it down to 1000rpm and have the same end result as the Nexus. If you're intending on using a fan controller, I'd suggest some Yate Loons.

Don't let those markettng bastards fool yah. You'll find if you want audiable benign, it gets obsessive. You might find yourself buying 200mm and 220mm (often marketted as 250mm) fans. ![]()

| I think i've decided on these scythe fans. I am going with a front intake at medium speed and then an top blow hole on low speed. I'm gonna work my fans so i have a positive pressure in my system to help force the air out of the case | ||
