| Well as the title says I have been asked to give some input on being a better BF2 player. BF2=BattleField 2 if you were living under a forum rock. Of course I love to write so here is the first guide I have been working on over the past few days. With updates and more guides it might just become something useful for all to read. I hope you like this first guide. The others ones are going to break down into more details, but for now I hope you all like this one. None of this is copied and pasted as well. I wrote it all so I hope its somewhat original . -------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey pimps. I wrote something about Battlefield 2 again. I am hoping it will serve as a noob guide and as an expert guide as well. At least that is going to be my objective with this. Pimps tell me if I reached my goal or if I am just another hoe. This is the first of many guides I play on writing if time permits. First and foremost I would like to start by explaining the BF2 kits and how they are supposed to be used. Also, how to get the most of your kits. The Medic. The medic kit is probably the most versatile kit in BF2 as it can heal your teammates, yourself, and can back a hell of a punch when upgraded after you unlock a rank to Lance Corporal and upgrade the kit. First off the medic should be used as a healer and should be attached to every squad. How to heal. Healing itself is actually a no brainier. Basically all you need to do is walk towards the player that has a bar above them. The bar means a life bar, if they have no bar then they are at 100 percent heath and do not need to be healed. When you reach a player with a bar see how low it is. If it’s still in green don’t throw a entire medic bag as it’s a waste. Just stand next to him and let him be healed by holding the bag (there is a stitching sound). The bag will do about 1/ ½ blocks a second give or take so keep that in mind. If you see a player that is in red throw a bag in front of him. You only have 3 bags at first to throw, but they will come back as there is a spawn time for a new back of about 15 seconds. If you run out of bags, you won’t be able to heal anyone, so always keep one bag on you. If your team is in a fire fight or your squad is then throw two bags on them and join in the fire fight. You need to get used to fighting as a medic and healing at the same time. But those bags you throw at first helps the entire squad with life, and then those that died after the fighting is done you can revive them. Like I said, after the fighting is done. There is little point reviving a player that was just shot in the middle of a firefight. Why? Well when he is revived he has probably got little ammo in his clip, and if there is still a lot of fighting then he is just going to get shot again before he can reload. How to get the best out of being a medic. Any good player that has gotten used to being a medic should be scoring at least 40 a round when in a squad spawning on the leader. It’s very important that you take advantage of the squad ability. When running with your squad stick close to your squad leader but not close enough to be taken out by the same grenade as him or by the same bullets from an attacking APC. If the squad leader is smart he should stay back a little and let his Spec Ops and Assault guys do the fighting. But if the SL (squad leader) does do the fighting as a medic you need to keep him alive. Being a medic gives you a very good gun when upgraded and a ok one when not. The upgraded kit uses the L85A1. This gun is amazing as it’s highly accurate at medium distances and can really back a punch up close when firing at full auto. If there is one really good gun in the game then this would have my vote. It’s not uncommon for a good medic to score anywhere from 15-40 kills in a round. With the ability to heal himself the medic can be a beat stick. He can shoot an entire clip at 2 or 3 guys from medium range. (Takes about 4-5 shots to kill, but if you hit them in the head which is very hard they can die in as little as three). Kill 2, then he can heal himself, chuck a grenade, reload, and then do it all again when they respawn. It’s almost unfair, but that’s why I am a medic almost 100 percent of the time. Also, when in a vehicle to will be able to heal others around you. That is to say if you were on a gun in a Blackhawk or in an APC others in your vehicle and around your vehicle will be healed by you. You do not need your bag out for this ability as well. The medic also has a very long sprint but very low armor or protection. Of course to counter that you can heal yourself. So you can out sprit any enemy and heal yourself at the same time. This does come in useful if you are running from an attacking tank. The only draw back is that the medic has nothing against tanks and APC’s. Pretty much any vehicle proves a huge challenge for the medic. Again, this is why it’s very important to get in a squad and not go lone wolf. Special Ops Special Ops is not the greatest kit in my opinion but because of its ability to both take down troops well and tanks/armored vehicles it really can be good to use in a lot of maps. The C4 is just nuts and can be used to do some very creative things on top of just the obvious. Ever C4 an entire base that you think an enemy will take? Ever fly over to the enemy’s base and drop some C4 on a Blackhawk and some planes and then blow them both up. It sure is greeted with a lot of wtf was that comments. Ever load up a buggy and driven it right into a base then blow it up killing a few? Ever C4 a bridge and blow it full out from under the enemy? Getting the most out of Special Ops. Being Special Ops means you have a job, and that is really to take out the commanders assets like his radar, artillery, and UAV trailer. But seeing you only have 5 things of C4 if you are all along you should aim for taking out his UAV with 3 C4 packs and then his radar with the last 2 (then he can't do artillery very well at all). Having said that, it’s a really good idea to include yourself in a squad with a support guy to rearm you and maybe a medic to revive you. But if you and a friend want to just do something together, a Special Ops and Support go hand in hand. Both can get points. The only neg. as of right now is that version 1.02 does not give you points for killing the enemy’s assists. Which of course is complete bull, but that’s something that EA/DICE overlooked. Version 1.03 due out end of August 2005 will fix this. So if you don’t go and take out the enemies assists then include yourself in a squad. Any squad needs something to take out tanks. Your C4 can kill a tank in 2, as well as an APC. That and it can pretty much kill anything in the game making it useful for a squad full of support and medics. The Special Ops guns are pretty dam good stock so upgrading is kind of pointless. If you still want to upgrade the weapon its the G36C. It’s pretty dam accurate at medium ranges, and can be compared a lot the medic's upgraded gun. When it is switched to its semi auto mode it becomes a 4-5 shot killer. Not bad when it packs 30 a clip and can hit about 6 out of every 10 shots given some good aim. The reload time is short, and it’s actually a pretty good gun overall. But to justify this more over the already good guns in SpcOps. (Special Ops) is kind of just pointless and is more for bragging rights. It’s also a little harder to aim as zooming in is not greeted by a scope with a red dot anymore. SINCE THIS SITE IS STRANGE AND TICKING ME OFF I AM GOING TO HAVE TO POST THIS IN 2 PARTS CAUSE IT BASSICALLY SAYS I PUT TO MUCH WORK INTO IT AND MADE IT TOO LONG!!!! PITA!!!! | Next part...Continued... Engineer The engineer is by far one of the coolest kits in my opinion. Not only can it heal all vehicles and land based things like your teams UAV, but it also can lay down mines and fly around in a Blackhawk healing the chopper. The vehicle repair is great in maps like Strike at Karkand where you and your squad can counter heal each other. That is to say that one member is in a tank, and the other is in an APC. If both are engineers then they will heal each others vehicle if they are within a few yards of them. Getting the Most out of Engineer Being high on the points as an engineer and just walking around on the map with that as your kit is not going to give you the results any player would want. As an engineer, use the ability and jump in a vehicle. Whenever your vehicle takes a good amount of damage, drive it to a save place and heal it. Develop a rinse and repeat method. Maps like Strike at Karkand and Sharqi Peninsula this works like a charm as you get in a tank and raise hell, then repair, and raise more hell. Guaranteed for a good 50 points or more if you can get the tank down in one of those maps. As an engineer as I said above you have things called mines. To lay a mine just select it and drop it on the ground…pretty dam easy. The hard part is figuring out good spots for it. A lot of time I won’t lay them on roads I know my team will be crossing. If one player ignores the red scull and runs over it counts as a TK (team kill) for me. Then if they punish that’s -4 to the rec., which just isn’t cool. Usually I hold on to my mines and drop them in the back and in front of enemy vehicle I can get close on. If I can’t get close enough, I will sprint over to the path I think they might take. (Use common sense) If there is just one point that seems like the spot then mine it. But know that the enemy can see the mines…but they get no warning that they are there. (A lot of times good players can miss them…but when they get in heavy combat that all changes fast…hehe) Now if you have the fortune of getting into a sweet Blackhawk squad then the engineer is the backbone and it’s very important you figure out how to do it. Although I will explain the art and possible science of a good Blackhawk run later, it needs to be known that the engineer can repair in any spot in the Blackhawk past the F-3 one. So the F-4, F-5, and so on all can be used to wrench. A lot of players don’t realize that you can use the chopper’s ceiling to repair on. If by some reason the wrench does not work then all you need to do is switch a position and then go back to the one you were just in. So, the F-4 spot is messing up, go to F-6 and then back to F-4…walla, it should work great now. If you can’t switch then tell your squad and someone is going to have to suicide or the whole chopper might get shot down. (The reason why it might not work is a known glitch in 1.02, so get used to it) Assault Assault kit is a very strong kit that basically serves as a troop killer. It’s packed with lots of ammo for the main gun, a secondary grenade launcher that kills in 1 direct hit, regular amount of grenades, and smoke to shield you from tanks and such. The stock guns are pretty powerful when set to burst fire with 3 shots. The American kit stock is the best in my opinion, but all can be pretty good. Getting the Most of Assault First off get in a squad. If there is a squad that does not need an assault guy then they must be in a Blackhawk. For every other, join up and include yourself in the fighting. When I play the assault I vary rarely use the primary gun. I just use the secondary gun and go at it. With the ability to hit from a far distance and kill in one hit it’s pretty broken. Once you get the aim down it’s very hard to be stopped when you got 6 or so grenades and are medium range from a group of guys. (This happens a lot) So basically I spawn, sprint to a war zone, throw some smoke, get out the grenade launcher, kill 2 or 3, get out the primary gun, unload a clip, reload, then rinse and repeat. The upgraded kit for assault gives you a very powerful gun. Brother of the MP-5 as is said, this gun will kill in 3 hits. And scoring 3 hits with it is about as easy as getting the crosshair in the general direction. It only packs 20 shots, but when 3 shots is all it takes to kill, say hello to my little friend is what you will be screaming as you mow down those dam Chinese bastards or what have you. This gun is a pretty good upgrade if you play assault a lot. Anti Tank Probably one of the more overplayed kits in the game is the anti tank. It’s the weakest kit in my opinion as it really is only good at killing vehicles. That is to say that the rocket launcher can kill people as well, but if there are more than two around you may you pray to god that one misses as you can only hit one guy. Although anti tank is great in a squad and in certain maps, over all it’s just not something I ever play. If I wanted something to kill vehicles I would be Special Ops instead. That way I at least had some fire power to kill a few guys here and there. The stock gun for the Anti Tank is weak and even on burst the pistol can kill faster sometimes. Also the sprint for this kit is horrible and you will find yourself getting frustrated if you can’t get a vehicle and the enemy is two points away. Getting the most out of Anti Tank As I usually say, get in a dam squad. This way you can get reloaded on the rockets and can get healed. The best thing to do is just walk with that rocket launcher out 24/7 almost. If you see an enemy and can get a shot, take it and kill him or an APC/tank. Of course it can take 3 shots to kill a tank and sometimes an APC. The best place I have found to hit a tank and or APC is the tracks. It takes a few more bars down as there is no armor on the tracks. The upgraded weapon is ok I guess. It’s still not going to give you amazing firepower buts it’s something. It’s only got 10 shots, but up close it can really pack a punch. Still, you will be getting killed a lot from a medic or Special Ops guy I would venture to say. Not a good upgrade unless you really love the Anti Tank kit. Sniper I will not tell you what a sniper does…that should go without saying. Pretty much it’s worthless in my opinion. It does not help a squad much, and it does not do great on its own as well. The gun is great stock for the American, but the others really bite hard. Getting the most out of being a sniper I don’t usually find a good spot. I play the same way more or less as I would an assault kit what have you. That is to say I aim, fire, run, throw a nade, pistol, fire rifle again…rinse and repeat. Unless I know of a few good spots that will have me requesting ammo every 3 minutes then I usually don’t camp. If I do have a spot then I will mine it with the mines available in the kit. Most people don’t even know they exist but yes they do and they work great for protecting ladders of the building that you are sniping on. For the most part the sniper is worthless on most maps. In city maps it can be a lot of fun and should put you around 30-50 points a round with 15 or so kills if you get the aiming down. Still, when you can get in a tank or APC and rack up 15-30 kills the point of being a sniper for me is like taking a break from the game and just sitting back and having a little fun. Aiming with the stock guns is not that easy. The American gun is amazing…but the others are just horrible without lots of practice. Aim low with the MEC on as the recoil will hit on shot 2 and 4 sometimes. Good luck with the Chinese one, it’s a challenge and the maps the Chinese play don’t promote sniping very much. In terms of upgrading the weapon to me it’s a worthless upgrade unless you play a lot of the sniper kit. The upgraded gun still takes two shots to bring anyone down, but one shot to shoot down someone in a chopper if you score a direct hit on the glass. So unless you feel like going over the enemy and waiting for him to get in a chopper so you can shot him and steal it the gun is worthless really over the rest. That is to say it’s a nice replacement for the MEC and Chinese, but the American one is pretty darn good stock. (They make the real .50 caliber guns about 15 minutes from where I live as well. A civilian can buy most of them, but the bullets are restricted; no exploding ones for you, ) Weapon Upgrades... So you made Lance Corporal or maybe now you are finally at Corporal and you are wondering what a good weapon is to unlock along the way. Well for me, a player so close to Sergeant it’s hard to see the black on the line this is what I recommend. 1. Medic Upgraded Kit 2. Assault Upgraded Kit. After those it’s up to you. If you play a lot of one kit then upgrade it. Those above though are really good upgrades to get as the new guns which kick ass. So that about does it for me on the first installment of some of my BF2 guides. Look next when I breakdown a good Blackhawk squad and talk about maximizing scores in certain maps. | Another installment of my BF2 guides. In this guide I am going to discus the art and science of a good Blackhawk squad. The Blackhawk The Blackhawk is amazing and is probably one of the best vehicles in the game. It runs right along with the attack chopper but where the attach chopper fails, the Blackhawk succeeds and then some. How you might ask? Well the Blackhawk is pretty maneuverable, it packs amazing troop killing abilities, and can take flags/points with the best of them. How to set up a Blackhawk squad the right way. First off in order to get your cards right the pilot needs to create a new squad. If the pilot does not create the squad and just jumps in the chopper if he gets shot no one else can re-spawn in the chopper when he dies and this makes the runs short lived very fast. But, if he is the pilot the odds of him getting shoot go down to almost zero if he is a decent pilot. It is very important to pick a good pilot to fly and be squad leader. One that seems to know what he is doing. At the beginning of a round if you are flying with someone that seems to know how ask him if he can create a squad and then mention that we should do Blackhawk runs. If he is not a complete noob, he should know what you mean and he should do this as soon as you all die again. Also, the pilot needs to select the medic kit to both heal him self and the others in the chopper. Having a pilot not be a medic can lead to any APC shooting him out of it. So now that the pilot is covered lets talk about how the other members of the squad need to be set up. This has come under dispute many times but trust me I know what I am talking about having run over 50 Blackhawk missions massing about 7,000 points. A squad that looks like this should run perfect. SEE PICTURE ATTACHED BELOW PLEASE The reason for my choices… Well the pilot flies and heals plus gives the ability for all the rest of the squad members to spawn on him. One gunner (support one) kills everything that moves and gives ammo allowing the engineers to drop unlimited mines and grenades on points. The other gunner (medic one) heals and kills everything also. The rest use the wrench ability and heal the Blackhawk whenever it gets damage. If the chopper is not getting any sort of damage then the engineers can drop mines and this of course makes it harder for the enemy to get points back. Overcoming obstacles using the Blackhawk BF2 is a new game and there are some known issue with the BH (Blackhawk) and the repair ability by the engineers. First off it should be known that you can repair in every spot in the chopper except the gunners and of course the pilot. In order to do this in the F-5 and 6 spots well, you need to use the ceiling of the chopper. Just aim the wrench up and it should repair. But what happens if the wrench just is not working at all in any spot? If the wrench is not working in the F-4, F-5, and F-6 spots for you when you get in and start taking fire you have just ran into one of the games major glitches. Although sometimes the only way it will come back is for you to die and re-spawn, sometimes all you have to do is switch a position in the chopper (using the F-keys) and then switch off your wrench and then back to it. Of course if there is a full squad in the chopper, either wait till someone gets short or suicide. -2 to the record is better then letting your squad die from gun fire. Of course the reason why I have selected three spots for engineers is that chances are that at least two of the three wrenches should work. Getting the best out of a BH gun When on the gun of the Blackhawk don’t go off and just fire cause its fun. You don’t want to overheat the weapon because you just never know when an attack chopper might come out of know where and you need to defend your squad in the chopper. When coming up to a point, I look with the gun both ways to try to get an idea of where the enemy might be. Use the map and that way you know more or less which direction the pilot is coming in at. It’s a lot better when you are already pointed at the AA (anti aircraft) gun when you see it. Something that drives me nuts is when gunners are typing instead of shooting. If I have you aimed at the enemy and say on the comm. “enemy spotted” or “Hostile APC” that should be a dam good sign that you need to start shooting when the pilot try’s his best to line you up with it. The guns on the Blackhawk are very powerful as well. They are so powerful that when shooting down troops they can hit them without even scoring a direct hit. That means if you get the gun firing in the general direction you should be racking up the kills. Also the guns can take out troop carrier vehicles like the APC, Hummers, and MEC transports with ease. Takes about 4-6 seconds of direct fire to kill an APC and about 2-3 seconds to take down a Hummer or equivalent vehicle. If you are shooting a tank aim for the gunner if there is one and then stop cause the gun don’t do much more against a tank’s armor. What are the best maps for the Blackhawk use? The three best maps are Mushturr City, Operation Clean Sweep, and of course Songhua Stalemate. These maps are a little smaller even in the 64 player maps and the points a very close together making chopper runs pretty effective. My favorite map is Mushturr City because there really is not that much from keeping you from ruling the entire map. You should get to the point of having to slow down and let them get a few points back here and there. Operation Clean Sweep is also a lot of fun and pretty risk free as you can use the terrain to your advantage. If you come under heavy fire then just go behind a hill and let your engineers catch up. Last but not least Songhua Stalemate is just nuts at BH runs and it was actually built for them. Two points/flags are very high up and the only thing that can reach them for the most part (at least with speed) is the choppers. Again, the terrain can be used to your advantage as this map has heavy fog. Although there is a BH in almost every map in the game minus a few, I usually only do them on the maps listed above. If you get a squad, and do what I have just said I can guarantee you that you will get anywhere from 80-500 points a map. My record for Blackhawk points personally is 320 in one map. I have seen 100-260 all day and I can tell you its one of the best ways to both have fun and help rank up a little. As of right now its legal on almost all servers but soon it may change. With version 1.03 due out soon it is supposed to fix it so you can’t repair the Blackhawk or there might be a cut off point. The point is that right now you should get some friends together and go out and up rank a lot faster. EA/DICE made it so you can, so you might as well take advantage of it. That does it for my second BF2 guide. Hope you liked this one as well. My next one is going to be on getting the most out of a few selected maps.
