Post Ars Technica // Do black holes really exist?

Do black holes really exist? One physicist is challenging conventional wisdom with his view that what we call black holes are actually stars made of dark energy, formed by the collapse of some stars. If true, there goes a staple of science fiction writers.
In addition, there's news on a "cyberman" who can control a robotic arm with his mind. This week's Science.Ars also covers a rather alarming report on the impact humankind is having on our home planet.
The most comprehensive global study on humankind’s impact on the planet has just been published, and it’s anything but good news. The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, con-ducted over 4 years by 1,300 scientists from 95 countries was released on Wednesday, and makes grim reading.
Read on for a summary of the report as well as other bits of news from the world of science.

Well, they've got a point ... the colour of space, your basic space colour is black, and the colour of black holes is black ... so how are you supposed to see them?

Cosmology in a pc site ?I love this place.a singularity is an object of such mass that even light is pulled /bent towards it ,depressing space itself like a bowling ball on a blanket.it is easily observed with the right equipment because it blocks and warps the assorted wavelengths of energy passing near it. dark matter is thought to be the high speed radiation ejected at the poles of the singularity where the magnetic field is weakest, possibly explaining what happens to all that mass over time.at least thats what Steven Hawking thinks

I only wish I was half as intelligent as he is... explaining astrophysics so a layman can understand it is more impressive than coming up with new theories, IMHO.
