Ok, not trying to make you seem stupid, but are you sure your the admin. Cause i have installed xp a couple times when my account was set as an admin but somehow got changed to a power user or something like that. So double check your account title in the user accounts settings. Also, this is your home computer right??

yeah daemon tools is nice...but i get errors many a time i try to use it
for example....

Unable to mount image. Cue sheet: Line 1 - File not accesible

and the file is there....

anyways, make sure you are the administrator of the computer. If you are then some intelligent pimprig person can help you change the policy

1- yes i'm the admin it's my computer

2- yes i know about deamon tool but i burn cd with alcohol wich you can't do with deamon tool

3- i use to have this problem before once i install norton works (so i thought) so i reformat my hd & then after my chipset & video driver i would install Alcohol 120% & went fine

but 2 days ago i reformat my hd (not because of this but for someting else) then forgot about installing Alcohol right after my chipset & video drivers &now i'm f--- again

my guess is is that one of my software (other then norton works because it's not install yet) change something in my xp?

software installed so far

- DVD shrink
- DVD Xcopy express 3.02
- Nero 6 Ultra
- Inter video dvdcopy 3
- TMPGenc dvd author 1.6
- Clony XXL
- Winavi converter
- Ad-aware pro se
-Sygate firewall pro
- Acrobat reader 6
- Quick time pro 6.5.1
- realplayer 10.5 gold
- Hypershap-dx 5
- 3dmark01
- Windows media encoder 9
- all my driver for my ATI tv-wonder VE ver. 9.03

i think i didn't forget one? i still got a fiew more to install

this sounds alot like what happened to me, except i was able to change my account status back to admin, maybe you could try creating a new account and installing it in that account. I can't really think of much else to do right now.

Have you installed service pack 2? If so that could also be the problem. I could not install service pack 2 before uninstalling alcohol, then I couldnt install alcohol with service pack 2. Seems to be a glitch with windows. Just a thought.

That seems to be a common problem with Alchohol 120%. Here is one fix:

Type Regedit into the run box.
Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products.
Search the keys for Alcohol Product ID.
When you find it delete the sub-keys.
Restart the installation.

See if that clears it up.

I cannot express my unbelievable frustration at this stupid problem and the fury of BEING the admin and never having set such a "policy". Your solution is simple, elegant, and IT WORKS! I had given up on Alcohol for a long time until now, and if not for you I'd still be mucking around in my permissions and getting nowhere but enraged. THANK YOU AGAIN
