Default What is THE BEST Temperature monitoring software?

out of necessity, i have to look for an alternative to MBProbe (the best monitor as far as im concerned, having issues with the giveio.sys driver not wanting to remain installed, its a know issue with no resolution) and i need opinions of what to use, as i hate Speedfan with a passion...

list your top 4 or 5 termperature monitoring software...

I use Coolmon and MBM together to get realtime stats displayed neatly across the bottom of my 2nd monitor....

screenshot below.....damn I need to clean my heatsink, that XP120 fed by 2 120mm fans sucks full of dust in like 3 weeks......cleaning it out drops my temps 10 degrees everytime.

If possible, I use the motherboard manufacturer's program. So, I use Soyo monitor and Asus Probe

Is there a proggy to monator and record GPU and CPU temperatures? Gaming on americas army my system hits about 52°C or 125°F. Im upgrading to liquid cooling in the next week and i'm very curious on the effectiveness of it. The only way to know that is if i can find a program to record both temperatures under load...

PC Wizard has realtime temperature monitoring ability among other things, and it comes from the same people who brought you CPU-Z.

If you want the best temp monitoring possible, you need an accurate probe. There is always (be it very large or very small) a possibility of software being inaccurate, where as a piece or hardware monitoring your hardware should never fail you. I know that isn't what anyone wants to hear, but that is my opinion. I use the original coolmon (can't be bother to learn how to program coolmon 2), but I never got the fan speed or temp features to ever work. Then again the one I use is so old, maybe DLing the last iteration of coolmon 1 could fix that problem, but I use it to keep tabs on my memory and hard drive space mostly. Also nifty for LAN parties to show the names and IP addresses of rigs.

It communicates with Motherboard Monitor just like (or similar to) CoolMon. I am guessing this is for temperature purposes to perhaps crossreference with the mobo sensor for CPU temps.
Sounds pretty nifty though, I think I'll give it a try.

Edit: Gah! This app is like Belarc Advisor on steroids... with a GUI. I really need to go to bed.

Those programs are good. But what about one that monators and records CPU and GPU temp at the same time?

You CAN monitor and record the temps from both the CPU and GPU with several of these programs (I know for sure with MBM5 and I think PC Wizard too) but would require an additional temp probe for the GPU that is obviously not included.

I use MBM5 or The software that came with the mobo. They are usually both the same (on my mobo anyway).

ATI Tool can output its temp monitoring data to MBM if your ATI card has a probe installed and you enable the option in the ATI Tool settings.

But seeing how gam3r_neo uses an Nvidia card I can see how this isn't entirely helpful.

BTW: Godfoot, is PC Wizard's resemblance to that other program a good thing or a bad thing?

Edit: Oops, It was gam3r_neo that had the 6800 series video card and wanted GPU and CPU monitoring software.

Depends on how you look at it.
It is very good if you are just talking about it's capabilities, but bad in the fact that I spent so much time fooling with it that I nearly fell asleep at work today.

My mobo uses ASUSProbe. I use it to record the CPU temp. Which hit's 55C while gaming and heavy encoding. I know my GPU is hitting around 60-65C but not sure exactly while gaming. The purpose of this is in the spring before it get's hot im upgrading to liquid cooling and it i would help me if i knew how warm things where running before i upgraded and how much of an improvement after... thanks for the replays. I was reading one of the reviews for the water cooling and there was mentioned on the program to use to measure the GPU and CPU but i can't find that particular review...

You should not use Speedfan or asus Probe most of the time they don't report the correct temperatures (it be different from your Bios)

Get Everest works great for any board & you can get all infos for your computer & even some memory bench like all in one thing...

EDIT: i got high temp because i'm just over 2.5 GHZ right now for some test on my 2500+ barton (air cooling)

I usually resort to a quick reboot and a quick look into BIOS if I want an acurate readout.

MBM5 works great, but, my motherboard isn't supported, so I use PC Wizard. Both apps should give you real-time readouts when minimized.
