vid crd lock up on bench

sup fellas, got my new video card in the new rig & got her runnin pretty stable so i decided to becnh the graphix. its an ati radeon 9800 pro 256mb. so far it completely matches those that can be modded to the xt, which i plan to do, but i wanna see its stocck benchs b4 the modded, naturaly, lol. so i got sum 3dmark01se, set it up to so all the benches, start out with 21 of them in 6 mins remaintin, well the trucks drivin round shootin the airships, lol, is all i get to see as the video card crashes, everytime, dont understand why either, i have it setup in bios as a 256mb, 8x agp, everything else is auto. i can play games for the most part, unreal tournament 2004 on high settings plays great, as does half life 2 all but once, it locked up ther on me. i also have windows xp pro with sp1 & all my stuf fis updated & the latest catalyst drivers. dunno wat elst to do. thanx for ne help, & help on my first post, this site ROCKS!!

Is the card OC'ed??

What kind of cooling you have in your case? That could make some difference but just chill, the cavalry shall arrive directly.

Over heating, poor driver installation/software/other driver problems, overclocked too far, or a weak power supply are the most common causes of the problem you described.

i was just sittin here im my puter basics for tards class, aries, jk, & thought that it might be my power suppply. its an achieve i believe, sumptin ill edit l8r, but its a 500w, says it has 25 amperes on the +12v rail. figured that would run it a lil, & i guess thats all she does, lol. thanx for the help guys, ill keep u updates as the story unfolds...lfl

When you say you have it setup in BIOS as 256mb do you mean the AGP aperature???? If so change that to 128 and see if that keeps it from crashing - your not really supposed to set that to match your graphics cards, thats not really what that setting is for.
