| What is everyone using for back-up software for massive amounts of data? I've got roughly 200 gigs worth of stuff I'm trying to get backed up. I'm probably just going to use Easy CD Creator 7 as it's about the only thing I have right now that will recognize my Plextor DVD burner... Just curious if anyone had found somethin' that made it nice and easy. | ||

| I burn all my data to DVDs to store off site as well as move it to an "archived" hard drive on my 600gb file server. Double backed up...plus this way if I need something I dont have to go get the DVDs out, just browse the network drive and bam....data is on its way. | ||

I just burn the files sraight to DVD - for backup purposes I have setup NERO Backup for customers but its stores them as a proprietary file so theres no chance of just popping the disc in the drive to get files. I really suggest a Maxtor one touch external drive but thats not the cheapest solution......

| I use Retrospect from Dantz to back-up nightly to a Firewire drive, it'll back up to CD, DVD, Harddrive, Tape, etc. and I burn everything to DVD (uncompressed), and I have everything mirrored onto another drive which is a RAID setup of 2 mirrored drives, maybe a 'lil redundant but I simply cannot lose any customer files....period. ![]() | ||

| I use Ghost to back up all my drives to a different drive. EDIT: I've also transitioned from RAID 0 to RAID 1 for my primary data drives. The slight benefit in hard drive access speed is not outweighed by the fact that if one drive fails all my data is gone and I have to rely on a backup. In RAID 1, if one of my drives fail, I still have a mirrored image. I made this change from experience. All my games still play just the same as when I was running Striped. | ||

I've heard several refer to Norton Ghost. I'v used Ghost boot disks others had made. Only problem is that every time I try to use it some error pops up, dif error usualy. And when Ghost asks for a destination drive it does not seem to recognize any the the HDs on my system. Ghost seems to only go for my CD -RW. Iv tried Back up My PC software but never actualy tested if it worked. ie actualy made a restore. I have tried Retrospect before too. I workd nicley. But I fond when re-formating the HD Retrospect had to be loaded again prior to the restore. Gohst is a good back up now I just have to figure out how to make it work the way I want it to.
