| In CPU Magazine, a specific article caught my eye. It was entitled "Microsoft bombs software pirates". The story behind it is Microsoft has listed a multitude of pirated windows xp pro cd-keys, and is using them against the crackers. Microsoft is using the cd keys to deny the user access to the Service Pack 1. Also on the event of downloading SP1, Microsoft may choose to bomb the OS redering it useless. for the full story pick up this month's issue of CPU magazine. | ||

| Yeah, I heard about that... I knew they were going after the "Corporate" edition. I found out about the pro edition from a couple of friends who found out what happens first hand. They ended up returning to the horrors of ME (I still think Microsoft should have to issue an apology and a free upgrade for that POS). | ||

| Yea.. when i read the article.. it wasn't really that shocking to me. Seein' a read another article that microsoft is devising some program that is going to be directly written into hard drives to prevent software piracy. Luckly my version of XP is perfectly legal. I got it from school so i'm set and i already have SP1 so i'm good to go | ||

| Yeah i guess the way to prevent problems would be to consider your OS just like any other necessity in your ssytem PAY FOR IT and you even get stuff like upgrades and hrmmm legal use. Freakin Reatards. DW owns 2 copies of XP Pro and 1 Copy of XP Home. As well as all the Real Copies of most of my games. Does that make me DUMB? No i tell you why. Cause if it werent for people like me paying the bills of these software companies you morons wouldn't have anything new to warez out because they would probably go out of business. DORKS DW Well maybe not microsoft hahah but pay for your games so they can develop new ones !!!!!! | ||

| I fail to see how a peson can slap all this money for good gear and can't afford windows DONT SCREW WITH ME ON THIS TOPIC. I AM OUT OF THE ORDINARY. I BELIEVE IN PAYING FOR YOUR SOFTWARE IF YOU ENJOY IT. I HAVE PLAYED HACKED GAMES. AND WHEN I ENJOYED THEM I WENT OUT AND PAYED FOR IT. I GUESS YOU ALL WOULD UNDERSTAND DIFFERENT IF YOU WERE WRITING THE GAMES.ALSO dont forget BE KIND PLEASE REWIND!! | ||

| I'm with DW on this one totally. I own 3 XP Homes, 98se and an ME, about 50 games plus various other programs and I've paid for them all! The lonly thing I have on my drives that I don't own (yet) is Photoshop. That's it. I used to get software thru Hotline and Grokster, sh*t I even had my own HL server for a bit, but when I heard that you can do more time for software piracy than you can for murder, I gave that crap up in a hurry. Besides, at the time I think I was making like $10 an hour, I do alot better now, so luckily I can pay for my addictions. Did anyone catch the dude on "The Screensavers" thats fixin to go to prison for 30 frickin years for running a warez server? Screw that! ![]() | ||

| OK this is going into ethic or it could DW you said that you have played hacked games then went out and payed for them later,BA you said that you would not skimp on a OS,Dark and Sk8 well it kind of looks like you all are playing safe, and insome looks like you are telling us that you would never own a illegel copy of a OS.Now I am not disagreeing with any of you on either side ,but if you feel this way about a OS how do you feel about say music (Kazaa,Win mx,ect...) have none of you ever downloaded music off the net from one of the sites or preexisting ones?Or even copied a cd from a friend?I am just asking where you all stand on this ...music is enteranment, but if you want a Windows OS you have to go out and pay for something that makes your puter run?Personaly i think Windows asks way to much for what you get.I mean look at it this way 100 bucks or more to put something on your computer so you have the option to buy programs that you can work with, play ,ect...I dont think its a honor to have Windows on your system, they can easily lower the cost of the OS,still have enough cash to pay the programers to develope new ones and still stay in business. All of you have to admit that Windows has a huge hunk of the OS market, why do they have to jack the price up when they know so many peoople out there are running it on their systems thats my biggest gripe. To me and i dont know about this but i can allmost promise that they do not charge any of the game companies or any other software companies to develope software that operate on Windows. | ||
