Default 3dMark Vantage

Well....E-PeenMark 06 is finally being replaced...by 3dMark Vantage. Judging by the screens, it's going to be one hell of an impressive bench to watch, but the Vista exclusivity is putting a lot of people off. Add to that that you have to pay $7 to run the benchmark more than once, and I question how successful this is going to be.

Anyway, german website PCGamesHardware.de got hold of a copy, and ran every modern card through the benchmark. Amazingly, the 9800GTX is actually beaten by the 8800GTX and the 8800 Ultra! Looks like Nvidia messed up on that one, but I've heard rumours of a new driver that should, ahem, 'fix' that discrepancy. Let's just hope it's not a repeat of the nonsense in 2003!

Anyway, here are the links:

Download 3DMark Vantage here:

Futuremark - Download - 3DMark Vantage

Would be interesting to see what you guys can get!

Yeah... I don't even have a DX10 card so this is sort of annoying to me. Why would they make it vista only.

Because DX10 is the future, fool

I certainly won't be running it until Vista stops completely sucking arse or they release it for XP.

I have to concede that one, but I don't have to make it my present!

Wouldn't worry about it Slay. PCMark Vantage wasn't very well recieved, and hopefully this BS won't catch on.

Hwbot won't be awarding points for it for a few months until the community has spoken, hopefully putting pressure on Futuremark to make the basic version a lot more useful (being able to run it once is utter nonsense and totally useless to overclockers).

I got an email from hwbot and forgot to join up and vote in time. I did leave my comments.

While the people who purchased the benchmark (I am one of them), may feel left out. A stand needs to be made. Futuremark will only continue with this trend if a protest isn't made.

They have a right to receive money for their hard work, but I really don't see what was wrong with the old pricing model - in that the basic version was basic, but still functional, and the premium version added tangible but not vital benefits.

6874 after an ATI hotfix. Whole lotta ugliness before the hotfix. 6432 at stock cpu/gpu settings. Two 3870's in crossfire.

Which hot fix did you use? I scored a 6937 with my HTPC that has a 3870x2 in it.

Ah found it, will try with the hotfix now.
