Default HP recovery problem

I did a F10 type recovery on my 2yr old HP computer
the info said it would take back the operating system to day 1
but keep the data.
I cant access old profiles even though I can see them in C:\Documents and Settings
and my drive is still 3/4 full

i dont care about the profiles its the data I want.

any ideas ?

there may be a chance that some of your files are still on the drive, but not listed in the file allocation table, or tables (if it's a fat32 partition).
you could try a utility such as this one NTFS Recovery, Recover deleted file, undelete files with DiskInternals, which Im guessing can read file allocation table and search for entries begining with a sigma, which is how the operating system knows the file is supposed to be deleted, or it reads the disk's clusters, or it does both.
typically when running programs the can recover deleted files, or files from damaged partitions, it is recommended that you copy the files to a different drive or partition

I know this reply is quite late, so Im guessing you've formated the disk and tried
