I often find myself walking through a "Gaming specialty store" like Gamestop (or working there), and far too many times I have heard names of Video games, and their characters, butchered, or mispronounced.

How about a little quiz?

Let's start at the beginning with Street Fighter.

Is Ryu pronounced:
A.) Ree-You
B.) Rye-You

Moving on to more recent games:

Is Gaiden, as in Ninja Gaiden pronounced:
A.) Gay-Den
B.) Guy-Den

Is Helena from Dead or Alive prounounced:
A.) El-a-nah
B.) Hell-en-uh

And the mother of them all...

Is Mushihimesama pronounced:
A.).. just kidding!

I wouldn't want to make anybody to try and annunciate that abomination.

Anyways, is it really that hard to go out learn about the culture of the makers, and learn the correct pronunciation? Maybe, Maybe not. But it does make me feel that much better when I can actually say the name of the game... properly.
