It's a hermit crab!

Yah, didn't expect taht did ya!

But anyways. I bought one today, I think they're cute, but that's probably just me being stupid.
This little guy is great, he walks around, eats, drinks. It's fun to watch him.

Anyone have any tips on Crab care?

LOL O man I had one of them when I was in grade school. We had to take care of them in class and got to take ours home if we had a tank. Mine out lived all the others by a long shot.....

I find this is quite satisfying:

Crab Cakes

2 cups of crabmeat
1 cup of soft bread crumbs
2 eggs
1/2 cup of light cream or evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon of salt
A dash of cayenne
1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon of dry mustard
1 teaspoon of grated onion
1 teaspoon of chopped parsley


Shred the crabmeat, discarding any shell. combine the crabmeat and the bread crumbs. Beat the eggs until light and add the cream or evaporated milk. Add the egg milk mixture to the crabmeat and bread crumbs. Stir in the salt, cayenne. Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, grated onion, and parsley. Mix well. Taste, and adjust the seasonings to your taste. Shape into small patties and fry in hot butter, turning once to brown both sides. Serves 6

Yah mine used to sit around a lot too, they are more active at night.

O and musclecars&computers those are not called crabs, you would be thinking of 'Saber tooth crotch crickets' and you need the extra strong shampoo for them....

I used to have hermit crabs as pets as a kid. Not much personality with them, but they were fun. As far as food, I think they make a hermit crab food mix stuff like fish food.

As far as caring for the little critter, if you have it on your hand and it decides to pinch you with a claw, resist the urge to sling it across the room... Trust me, that is not good for them.

I dont eat anything that has bones on the outside and the only way to enjoy it is to suck the inards out.

You should give his shell a sweet paint job haha.

They are down right noisy at night, clanky their shell on the glass cage or digging! Fun stuff though, make sure you have bigger shells for when he out grows his old one.

Keep things moist for the bugger.

Just keep them moist, or give them a way to keep themselves moist. Like a bowl of water that acts as a place to drink/moisten up/pee/etc.
