Movie Format Changing

I was wonderin if my fellow pimps could help me out on something;

Currently I have LotR 2 towers on my HD, its 8gb!!! I only have 45gb HD space total....

I was wondering how I can change the movie from reg. DVD coding to like .avi or divX

um.....maybe MAYBE you could just go in when the movie is open and if there is a save as option type in the name and extension you want. Like when you right html you have to type .html could give that a try, but this is out of area.
