| I was thinking of building a new backup gaming rig/folding machine someday (tax return maybe?) I have killed my main rig, and this 500MHZ K6-2 is no good for the newer games, so till my I get my RMA done I am stuck on the sidelines, wishing my backup PC was faster Threw this together in 15 minutes at NewEgg, could probably save a few bucks, or get a little better hardware, but it gives you the Idea. It has to be able to play Direct X 8 games, Include shipping and run Folding@Home like a Madman!!! Bundle Special With AMD Athlon XP 1800/Biostar Motherboard Model M7VIZ (Supports Bartons)$63.00 KingMax DDR memory 256MB PC3200 CL2.5 $45.00 SAPPHIRE ATI OEM RADEON 9200 SE 64MB DDR TV-out 8X AGP $51.00 Codegen Case Model L-6042 With 400W Power $29.00 OCZ Gladiator 3 HSF w/LED to Athlon XP 3200+ $16.00 MITSUMI 54X MAX EIDE INTERNAL CD-ROM $22.99 MAXTOR 20GB 7200RPM H.D. $57.00 SubTotal $283.99 Shipping $10.00 Total:$293.99 This might help someone on a shoestring budget, or looking for a second PC that won't break the bank. I picked some of the parts cause they had free shipping, ending up me costing less than cheaper parts with shipping. So just for fun, how cheap could you build one? Hmm... wonder how much for a Intel system ![]() *EDIT* I was just informed by TekXoid, that the motherboard bundle is 99$ with CPU (I missed the fine print, sorry), So the final price is 323.99 I am sure with a little juggling it can be done under the $300budget Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 20-September-03 at 04:48 AM.. | ||

| ummmm my main rig probably cost me 190 to 200 im guessing, I think the most expensive thing in there was the video card, all my hard disks were free (2 10 gigs and a back-up 3.2), the board was 50, 40 for the processor, 15 on the HSF, 90 on the video card, and many other smaller prices, but still that's a sw33t deal on any rig for that matter. | ||

| now that i think of it that was all i paid for. i got the board and HSF and his Duron 850 for 90 total, I think the only thing I bought brand-new was my Radeon 9000 and my Duron 1.3 K6-II 500's are decent for surfing the web but no good at games, though mine actually plays Half-Life at a decent speed. | ||
