Very cool if ya ask me.
Is anyone going to take the plunge or wait for an HD-DVD Burner?

Some things if the money is good I'm an early adopter of. When in the case no way in hell. HD DVD vs Blu-Ray battle has left me with no clear indicator who will win and who will end up the next Zip disc.

I like the fact that HD-DVD drives can do HD-DVD/DVD/CD whereas Blu-Ray (well the pioneer one anyway) are just Blu-Ray/DVD.

But the cheapest Blu-Ray player plays all formats, except HD-DVD.

It doesn't really bother me. My main display is only 1440x900, so I won't get much benefit anyway.

I found it pretty amusing recently to see an advert for a music DVD (I forget which) stating "Filmed in HD for maximum quality!"

Yeah, good one guys...but the maximum a DVD can take is 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL), so that's about as useful as a chocolate teapot, aint it? DUH!

Blu-Ray drives or Blu-Ray players. The Pioneer Blu-Ray drive only plays DVD and Blu-Ray.

Most peeps I have talked to (regular everyday tv/dvd watchers) say they want a HD-DVD player just because it sounds better than BluRay, ie they see the 'HD' and think it is better. I think the name will have a lot to do with it in the end.
