| A possibility that a job transfer exists and I would be moving to Quebec. I would more than likely (almost certainly) will be living in Saint-Georges. Anyone been there? Got any advice? I know that they love to put mayonaise on their hamburgers, which in and of itself is incredibly stupid. I found the official website but there is no English translation available. Official Canadian policy is that everything government-wise is supposed to have both English and French versions. Although the French-Canadians scream and yell for this, they are a little less interested in providing the Enlish translation to their webpages. Thanks! | ||

Well i can tell you Buddy i been living next to the Canada border all my life and i am only 45 minutes away from Montreal, Quebec and i can tell you for sure most of the people from Quebec are very nice except i know that a lot of them from Quebec City seem to have a big chip on the shoulders and prefer not to even hear English.

| I was in Montreal for a 5 weeks at a training class. Was a really nice stay and the people I met all seemed to be very friendly. I did notice the french/english bit but I found out as a tourist that almost everyone will speak english if they know you are from the states. Not shure how long you could get away with that one if you actually move there though. On the hamburger thing, they will make them without the mayo. It's the mayo on the french fries that really bothered me. ![]() | ||

Now, that's just about downright sinful. Thanks for the replies, Pimps. I've got two weeks to decide if I want to apply for it or not. Right now, I'm leaning towards applying but I'm going to need some time to think about it.

I tried that stuff with the gravy and cheese and it was really good. You could get it at the McDonalds. It was the best at about 4 am after a heavy night of drinking, stop in at the all night fast food and pig out before hitting the A.M. bars and continue drinking till noon.

| I lived in Montreal for about 4 years and I hardly knew any French and that went ok. But Montreal is probably the easiest city to live in without any proper French ( or Quebecois as the French would say, but don't say that outloud to the typical Quebec resident). | ||
