1.what is the best placement of hte hard drive (ie.. horizontal, vertical, upsidedown)

2.whats the best and most officient hard drive cooler (are those hdd waterblocks good?)

i found those htingies with 2 fans only putting dust on the bottom of my hdd...thats about it...

embeding HDDs in PHP is a good start... hehe

Really, horizontal is the best because the disk won't have to pull it self against gravity.

What do you do to have them die so easly... I've lost one in 10 years, and that was 525mb.

I would imagine horizontal placement of the HDD would be best to prevent file corrution for the same reason record player don't work too well upside down or sideways. At this point the technology has gotten to the point it really doesn't make much of an impact as long as it isn't getting knocked around.

As for the cooling I hate those watercooling blocks and most HDD coolers because they only cool 1 side of the hard drive. Thats one of the perks of my Antec case....it puts a 80mm fan right in front of the hard drive to blow over and under it, thereby cooling both sides. I'm thinking of modding the cage so that I can put another fan behind the HDD to act as a push/pull mechanism. Should work great for the same reason it works well on radiators.
