Is it true about XP?

Im am getting a brand new copy of XP from some old lady across the street, never used, still in original shrink wrap so I should have to worry about liscensing crap, but I here that XP isnt as stabl as some of the other OSs is this true?

Incorrect, Windows XP is more stable than even Windows 2000. Probably the most stable operating system ever made by microsoft.

Just make sure you install all the latest updates before anything else after operating system installation.

My only complaints about XP are:[list=1][*]Cannot save mouse scroll option (Set it to anything other than default, it will revert back to default in minutes)[*]Wont remember to keep clock off taskbar after reboot if you disable it.[*]Tooltips, I hate tooltips.[/list=1]

I've been running it since the day it came out and it's the most stable version i've ever run.

ay, i hardly every turn my Pc off except when requiring a reboot after updates or installs and have no problem running XP for days or weeks on end. Something that i never managed with any other version of windows.

Although far from perfect, it is the most stable OS that MS has produced since the days of DOS. Even better than NT.

I normally seem to bring it down once or twice a month, but I just LOVE playing with stuff I don't know what is, just so I can see if I can repair it.

Only Linux have I failed to ever bring down.

98SE is better for gaming than Microsoft ME. XP is FAR better than ME in every way. I love XP so much I want to marry it *umf umf*.

98SE WAS good for gaming. Why does this thread even exist? No other OS is supported anymore by MS except 2K and XP. Of the two, XP is the better one. Should be end of discussion.
