| Lokie's Personal WU-Hoe | Yes, for another supposedly once in a life time astronimical experience you are able to see Mars brighter and bigger than ever. My dad gave me this paragraph a neighbor printed off that said all about it so I will be typing that up later. As for now, lets just say Mars is brighter than the stars and has an orange tint to it. I saw it in the East, and I believe seeing it in the East would hold true for everyone. Mars will also get progressively brighter throughout this month. In case you aren't the smartest person in the world, you must go outside when it is completely dark out to view this. I'm *pretty* sure you won't be able to see it during the day. ![]() | |

| Lokie's Personal WU-Hoe | You started school already? We start after Labor Day since after much consideration, the school board thought it was best. Reason for that is this: School starts, then suddenly school stops for a vacation right after a big vacation. Heh, lucky me ![]() I'll type up the paragraph later...I have things to do right now. | |

| Lokie's Personal WU-Hoe | Alright, here's the article with a bunch of useless facts for everyone ![]() Never again in your lifetime will the Red Planet be so spectacular! This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars, an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the last 5,000 years but it may be as long as 60,000 years. On August 27, Mars will come within 34,649,589 miles and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a maginitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August, Mars will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuthat about 3a.m. But by the end of August when the two planest are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That's pretty convenient when it comes to seeing something that no human has seen in recorded history. So mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month. There you have it...I probably made some typos while using my 1337 fast typing skillz, so I'll fix them if I see them. | |
