Default The Ultimate Fan Mount

Zennzzo and I have come accross these awesome rubber fan mounts that are like no other, and arent available anywhere.
They are used in Dell PC's to mount its CPU cooling fan to its cooling shroud, the purpose of such a part is to minimize fan vibration to a new level. The picture says it all.

It really is too bad that the only way you can get these is through dell by ordering their replacement P4 cooling kit which includes the shroud, 92MM Fan, and the rubber fan mounts for $4.95

I want these so bad that I am fixing to raid a dell production plant

how do they work?

Looks like the two ends squeeze into the screw holes of the fan and its mounting holes on the case?

Looks to me to be a part you could fabricate perhaps out of a plumbing fitting. Interesting. Looks like that piece replaces screws all together when mounging a fan, am i right?

Exactly BZA. Fabricate it? I really don't see that as a possibility.

Think about it, dell must have millions of these, ah if I only knew someone who works at dell...

I can't reember where I've seenthem, but they're not a Dell only feature. When I get back (in less than 48 hours) I should be able to find them.

Gonna save all interested in this stuff some time here...
The F-340 fan mount are sold minimum 500 peices, which is $106, ridiculus for most end-consumers, the representative @ E-A-R informed me that you can order in increments of 20 from McMaster-Carr Catalog (2nd part from bottom) for $9.71. Bye-Bye case vibration

Anyone kinda lost as to WTF we are talking about:

Now that's what I sayin'

Here is my thinking: If I can get 10 pimps who want to reduce case vibration, and get a set of 50 fan mounts for .22 ea then PM me. I'll take two sets, so that only leaves 8 sets needed to make the order...

Quiet PC used to sell them as did pcmods. Directron still has them in stock though. They also sell these things.

I've always used rubber grommets. Uber cheap and effective. You gotta do a little drilling on the mounting holes to install. But they work.

Dang...I don't think those would work with the Evercool aluminum fans since the screw holes use the whole fan width instead of the one side like the plastic fans.

Count me in, if we can get 7 more pimps interested? (Zennz' counts as two since he is taking two sets)

Heres how it will work:
Zennzzo will collect payment from the participants and order, $106 is the order price for 500 mounts, this splits ten ways.
So .22¢-per-mount times 50 = $11
So each participant sends $11 to zennzzo, Throw in shipping costs if you like, but it is not nessesary.
Once all payments are received, zennz will ship out 50 to each of the participating pimps, once he receives the 500 peice package, Sound good?

Ummm - there seem to be multiple sizes of these things.

F-340? F-344? F-345?

Which were y'all thinkin of ordering? F-340 right -why? Can you mix und match in a batch of 500?

Unhappy

Well when I was getting ready to order out of impatience, I found out there is a minimum 1500 peice order which would cost around $300 minimum, so the group purchase idea we had is out of the question, sadly.

The only financially possible option to fan vibration prevention is buying in 20 packs for $9.71 from McMaster-Carr which zennzzo and I will be doing, unless someone here can afford to buy $300 worth of fan mounts.

BTW I measured a standard 80MM case fan and the 5801K8 fits it best.
