DVR vs. ATi AIW 9800

ive been thinking about something like a DVR because vcrs piss me off since people record over what you just recorded. and for the times i think what was that go back. and so on. are these things worth it?
ive been looking at replay tv because - progresive scan component output would go nicely with my newer telivisions
TiVo - nothing says lazy or geek than "i have a TiVo"
Ati all in wonder radeon 9800 - i need to get a direct x 9 compatible video card for a game supposedly comeing out in september. but i would have this thing next to the computer and on all day, all week, all year. and power outage means its not turning back on automaticly. other wise i want a new video card.

ATi All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro.

Watch out though it has a horrible stock heatsink, its been downgraded since the 9700 AIW. Might want to look at some aftermarket heatsinks...

Hrrrmmm.... I always thought that it was PVR not DVR. Am I crazy or what?

What game are you intending on getting in September?

PVR, DVR same thing, different companies call it different things.

Well if you do go with a TiVo its $300 for lifetime service or like $12.95 for monthly service.
If you choose not to get the service you might as well just get a VCR.

Get the AiW and a nice 120GB or bigger hard drive. Having a TV tuner is great

it looks like the people have spoken. i will buy an ATi all in wonder 9800 pro. i miss haveing a tv on my computer since this is my only computer that didnt have a video card with built in tv tuner. ill try ordering one next week.
