| Well, I have been working at a car lot that also has Mercedes service, where I made signs, banners,, and photo restoration. Crazy combination! I tried selling banners and signs, turns out I am not a good salesman! So it seems I have gotten a really weird transfer. Now I am in charge of parts, customer writeups, billing, and computer diagnostics on the cars, and hell, sometimes I mess up and fix something! My previous mechanical experience is oil changes, plugs, front brakes, and a valve cover gasket on my truck. Well, me and the boss are still in salary negotiations, but so far I have learned a lot, and am usually busy enough that the day goes buy quickly. I got the parts pretty much in order, damn Germans use a crazy number for their parts... 000-180-26-06 is a part number. Let's call them 1-2-3-4. 2 is the first listing, then 4 then 1 then 3, so 000-181-01-06 would be to the right of the other part on the shelf. Who knows where I will be next year! Have a great one! | Don't you love learning a system like that, only to have to learn something new a few years down the road. Or better yet working somewhere different and their system is more backward than the place you just left. Sometimes you never know what kind of job you will end up doing. If someone had told me 5 years ago that I would be living in FL, building houses out in the sun, and LOVIN' IT I would have said they were insane. Same thing if they said I was going to Alaska for a summer to process salmon. Basically it comes down to two things: 1 - if you are happy at your job, and 2 - if it is enough for your family to live on. If you got that then you are LOVIN' IT too. Kinda crazy how they are bouncing you around, but I'm glad your days are quick and you are learning. You'll probably have a blast with all of that stuff! Keep it pimpin' and enjoy! | ||

| Very cool! I love the automotive feild, its something that i'm actually looking into for an occupation out of HS. I have been toiling with my car (88 Toyota Supra, turbo) since I got it. I do all my own work. Having a father that was in the feild for 20+ years and now is a Matco tools dealer also helps in the process as well! Its a constant learning thing. To be on the top of your game in the auto world, you have to be constantly learning and schooling. | ||

| Jeez, now how do I organize this shop!? The mechanics show up whenever they want. I am the person left holding the bag so to speak. I talked to the boss about it, but that is something I cannot control. So I am going to learn how to do some basic stuff on the cars. On a Mercedes you have an A and B Service. Pretty much an oil change, cabin filters, and brake pads and rotors for the most part. It depends on if it is an A or B service. These come in every day. So if they are not there, I will learn to do simple stuff, get paid extra for it, and they will not make that money. Yes, they will show up at 8:00, or I will take the jobs I learn to do, and then they will have to cancell Christmas, and I will be ordering one sweet gaming rig! And maybe a folder or 2 for the farm. Have a good one! E | ||
