So the World Cup is over what did you guys think? The coverage here in the US was horrible I wanted to cry most of the announcers had no clue what they were talking about. They constantly put up obnoxious graphics covering the play and they showed so many replays making you miss the game. Aside from the coverage though.. I read a article on Reuters "Great World Cup, Shame about the football". This was the second lowest scoring world cup ever and the one with most Red and Yellow cards awarded and the single game record for bookings was set. The refs were inconsistent some of the calls were ridiculous as were some not calls. A well reffed game was the exception not the rule. Part of that is the players fault seriously just play the game. There were some Emmy quality performances out there. The amount of diving and time wasting was completely out of hand. Hate to break it to the coaches but they have Strikers they could try to use them some. It was most definetly a defensive tournament. Not of the big names really produced but there was some good team chemistry and quality play from some of the younger players. All in All I'd rate the tournament at Meh. What do you guys think?

Well there were some really good games (Trinidad v Sweden) and some really poor ones. Fairly good though it being my first world cup I dont have much to compare it to.

I agree about the coverage--total crap. What a shame ESPN/ABC got it instead of FOX Soccer.

Us americans aren't used to so much Soccer...

You know that when we call the sport were covering something different then the rest of the world, were bound to go wrong somewhere...
