well we have been here in Iraq now for about 3 months, not including the 3 weeks in Kuwait.

cant say im really impressed with anything over here. its hot. DAMN HOT!

i cant say i am really doing anything exciting here. im with the 34th Brigade Combat Team ( BCT). my company which is a Infantry company has been attached to a bunch of pouges ( anyone who isnt infantry) and we are basicly thier combat support. so if anything ever happens, we get called in to save the day.... except they have all the infantry out guarding radio towers??? well not all of us, some are doing convoys up to bagdad area.

we are based out of Tallil AFB which is in southern Iraq, about 150ish miles north of Kuwait. where i am is south of tallil, closer to Kuwait. it is a fairly safe area, kinda. we still get our IEDs but they arent that common down here. the biggest thing that we had a problem with is the british and Iraqi Army doing test fires in our direction at night. so your sitting up in a tower, then the next second you have machine gun fire coming at you. either .50 cal or 7.62. the first one isnt going to hurt as much as the 2nd one, mainly because you wont feel it, or anything else afterwards.

other than that, not a whole lot going on. we use a iraqi Satellite dish for our internet, and also our TV. hehe we get some GOOD channels that you dont need subtitles for, everythign else is arabic or something else.
the internet is a step up from dialup, but thats it. im pretty much the computer fix it guy out here, and prety much with in a 100 mile radius. i have been called up to other bases before to fix this net issues and comp issues. i cant say i really care for it too much, but its a change of scenery every now and then.

im surprised my alienware laptop has held up for this long. taking it out of my room with AC and walking 20 feet into our MWR room with AC the fans are going full blast before i set it down. coolerpads are that much of help as all it does is help suck sand up into the case.

sounds like in a few months i will be able to come home for my 2 week R&R. other than that life goes on.

looked at my comp specs in my sig, man i am going to have alot of fun upgrading when i get home. found out the wife blew my 6800GT with the DD nvidia water block on it. so my rig is dead right now until i can get one of my buddies over there to rip my WC out and switch to air until i get home. tho, i will prolly do it on my R&R during my bedroom breaks hehe.

been thinking alot of my server rack i have. thinking of fun mods i can do with it. i think i am going to chop it in half and build a comp case with the sheet metal, and turn the other half into a mini rack. so maybe, it might have that project to post after i get home and back into the swing of things.
