| Apex Advanced Techie | Anyone know the formula or a site that can do it for me? People keep asking how low of a mark they will need to pass with a %50, or how high of mark need on the final to raise it. I know you have to cross multiply... Example: final is worth %20 of overall, have a %57 going in. How low of mark could I have on the final and still pass. Thanks in advance. | |

.57/.8 + x/.2 = y Solving for x will give you what you need to score to get y%. If passing is 65%, substitute .65 for y in the above equation. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I think it should be multiplied, not divided (weight of final exam as a decimal) (score on final as a decimal) + (1-weight of final) (score on rest of class as a decimal) = (desired grade as a decimal) Example given above: .2 (score) + .8 (.57) = .50 .2 score + .456 = .50 .2 score = .044 score = .22 So Cyno is correct. He needs a 22 percent to pass | ||
