Today was a bad day, i almost killed my best friend, its hard to have something like this on your chest. If this Accomplishes anything i hope it expresses either how much a dumbass i am or how carefull we should be and how foolish we can be

A little Over a week ago i got a new car, a RX300 02 with all the options, no my parents didnt give it to me, i was ACTUALY making the payments with my OWN money, keyword was.

Today i was driving down with some of my friends in the car, more specificly my bestfriend, his girlfriend, and my simi girlfriend. I was excited because i havent been to my old town in quite a while and i really like this girl, not to mention i gotta spend time with my old friends, anyway we were driving down the street, my gps was screwing up and giving me the wrong directions, so like a true dumbass i was fiddling with it rather then doing what i should have, driving. The next thing i knew i had ran a red light, i tryed to swerve and avoid the truck, with no avail he broad sided me and everything went slow, i had to watch my best friend his girlfirend and someone i sincerly love with the worst looks of terror on there faces, i watched the glass fly through all of our faces, i watched my friends blood fly all over me as the glas tore his face apart into cuts which would later cause the use of 17 stiches, if there is a hell i cant imagine that it could get worse then that. My car slid down the street another 30 feet, while the truck tipped over, the first thing i did was make sure my friends were okay, get them out safely sience the right doors were smashed, then i ran over to the truck and checked on the driver, he got out okay, soon enough the police were to the rescue, nobody was seriously injured, i was lucky, the car is only metal, i can afford a new one in time, but i cant affoard a new friend or girlfirend, and knowing that people i care about that much, had to go through that is something no one should have to live with, i would give anything to have been in that seat even if it ment dieng, if anything gets accorss in this thread i hope its that you have to be carefull, you may not be dumbasses like me, but it dosent take you beeing foolish, it takes the other person being foolish, and dont take life to be something that is just given, because you dont know when it will end. If we wouldent have been wearing are seatbelts i wouldent be telling this story, i would be dead

Here are some Pictures http://www.geocities.com/preston2k4/...?1058237904145 the chick that was with me is on the left (her hair is tucked behind my visor) and bret, the one who got hurt the worse is the one siting by his girlfriend, the damage may not seem that bad, but the car is indeed totaled and will be scrapped for parts, all because i was to busy fu*king with a gadget to watch what i was doing. You may also notice that the side airbags didnt deploy, i was informed that i could easaly have a law suit, but i dont think lexus should be sued for my foolish actions, if i would have been responsible there would have been no reason for an airbag to deploy.

You cant imagine the guilt i feel right now, im writing this so maybe people wont make the same mistakes i did, i dont want sympathy i just want this to be taken seriously.

I'm glad that your okay man. This is really a shock to the system. It's great that everyone didn't get hurt, but man you should have been paying attention. $40000 car totalled after having it for a mere week or so, thats harsh, but whats harsher is that you almost lost a friend. I feel for you man. Best of luck, and peace be with you.

EDIT: I have learned from this little article man, even though my Young Drivers of Canada taught me all the ways how to avoid an accident, nothing beats reality, and this I shall never forget. Glad that your okay and so are your loved ones.

Another horrible result due to car makers including things to keep your eyes off the road, its like their mission is to kill us all.
People had their eyes on the road when there was just a radio and a steering wheel, I am more glad then ever that I own a 70's car.

Good that you sustained no serious injuries, let it be a lesson to you that any car gadgets are more trouble then they are worth.
You can buy a car but you cannot buy back life. Always remember what you risk when you step into a motorized machine.

your respect does mean something to me, i dont deserve it but thank you

tex, you have a point, however those gadgets have kept me out of trouble also (the GPS atleast) i honestly dont think you can blame the gadgets either, its just the same as if a hot chick is walking down the street, shes there but you dont have to look. in the end your responsible for your own actions

I disagree, things like that never belonged in something with one purpose: transportation. Anything that can potentially take your eyes of the road does not belong in a car. Others disagree, I encourage you to do so if you see it that way.

Think what would have happened if you did not have any potential distractions such as GPS.

On the street you have nothing more to do other then walk, you are free to stare at whatever you please without risking death, for the most part, and I say for the most part, because there is always the possibility of someone crashing into you on the sidewalk.

Blaming yourself for your own actions is always the last resort for me, if something else participated in possible cause of the incident, it is to blame as well.

Driving should just be driving. Distractions like cell phones, cd players, gps, and other On board junk cause accidents and errors on the road. This is why i drive 80's cars and no matter what, i will never distract my self on the road. I feel bad for ya but GPS is the cause of your mistake and I hope that you have learned from this. Distractions and cars don't mix well, trust me i race here in denver, legal of course and If i drop my guard for a second i could hit a wall at 100+ MPH.
But Still I feel bad for ya and I'm happy to hear that no one is dead. Be careful Everyone and Remember When you fall off the horse, You have to get back on it. Feel Better man.

You maybe the best example but don't put yourself down to much, You have to drive again, but you will know not to tinker with gadgits on the road again. That is the message I'm trying to pass here. There hopfully soon be laws against driving while on the cellphone or while distracted by a onboard elctronics device. I want laws like this to pass to prevent future Accidents and to stop people from killing themselves in there own cars while talking on a cellphone. Oh yeah you should SUE Lexis for Faulty Safety system, The air bag. They will pay your medical bills and then some.

I feel for you man... I've lost enough close family lately, good god knows what'd happen if I lost (or come close to losing) a close friend... and it'd be a hundred fold worse if it had been my fault...

Just thinking about this is making me feel bad...

Perhaps I should just go to bed...

I'll put you in my mental sticky-note of people to... hm... perform strange religious rituals for, that do not involve meeting on a sunday to compare clothing.

I know you dont want to sue lexus for you actions, but maybe theres a problem with lexus's design, if you take action they may look at it again and fix the problem, and in the long run you might save sombody's life. Or maybe im just stupid and too tired and none of that made any since, but i do feel bad for what happend to you, and i hope some people here will learn what can happen and pay more attention and put down there cell phones while they drive, pull over when they need to fiddle with gps, and i hope to god people stop reading books while they drive.

True that, I see people driving down the highway to work reading the god damn newspaper, women doing their makeup, men shaving with electric shavers, and women doing their god damn hair. That's just obsurd.

Glad to hear you guys are all in one piece, RH. I was informed my brother's ex got into a car accident today, and my 5 year old niece was injured. Luckily, the injuries were minor.

Scary, scary stuff.

come to think of it, today when i was driving down the interstate i saw what appeared to be a chevy astro van, it had exploded and lighted on fire while they were driving all i saw was a shell of a van on the side of the road, my parents said that they saw it while it was on fire because they drove by earlier, but it looked like everybody was ok because there was a family outside of it talking to policemen and fire fighters and paramedics. the wierd thing was there was only that car there no other car was involved with this accident.
