Default Just a little question....

Ok this might be a stupid question but I would like to know..

I even went on how stuff works.com and could not find an answer.

Ok so I know what a radiator does and somewhat how it works but I donÂ’t get how the water and or coolant flows through (like in my water cooling setup)

Does the water go through all the fins or does it flow around the outside and the fins just draw heat away from the coolant (the latter is how I thought they worked)?

Just curious I guess..
.

I'm pretty sure it runs through pipes inside the rad smaller that are bonded to the fins that in turn cool it, im not sure if it just goes around it but im pretty sure on the through it,

i now the fins on my black ice are not big enough to flow water

Yah that is why that poped into my head, I have a black ice and the fins are really tiny, I never thought that water could go through them.

Blue is the inlet parallel water flow-channels and red is the outlet/ return path flow paths. These are flat channels through which the water can flow and the fins are soldered to them.

The water normally flows in pipes in a up and down lopped kind figuration. Like this

_______________
______________l
l_______________
______________l
l______________

Now the fins are act like a heatsink kinda for the pipes, the air flows threw and cools the fins, which the fins then cool the pipes, and then the pipes cool the water.
