Default Linux over windows?

I have been thinking about getting a open souce o\s compared to running windows. Not because I don't like windows just because I want to explore something diffrent. Is there any open source o\s that supports computer games? Since I don't know anything about any other o\s I wouldent know. Thanx

You can get quite a few games on Linux...Unreal 2k3 comes to mind...among others...

A user friendly distro I gave my sister is Lycoris:

easy to use and set up

i would suggest doing a duel boot. still be able to run windows but also be able to learn on linux. its really easy especially if you have more then one HDD. that makes it a whole lot easier.

I like the idea of Linux alot. The OS is more stable and it is fully customizeable but the drawbacks are lack of software compatiblity and games. I know they have this new WineX software out that is starting to enable gaming but I don't think I'm ready to trade in my WinXP for it yet.

If you have two hard drives try this Hard Drive Switcher . It also gives you a cool switch to put on your comp.
